Lawson's Bakery — Restaurant in Morgan Hill

I went in early one weekday morning, the day before I needed a birthday cake in hopes of getting lucky and finding a ready-made carrot cake. I was planning to pick up a grocery store cake, but figured I'd try my luck at Lawson's to see if I could get something nicer. They didn't have one made, which I kind of expected, and the lady at the counter kindly offered to check with the bakers to see if they could make one for pickup the next day. I insisted that she not go to any trouble, but she asked them and after checking on some things in the back, a few minutes later they said yes! She took my order, even offering to let me pay at pickup, but I felt like prepay was the way to go. I paid and picked up the cake exactly 24 hours later. Amazing! Now the cake: Absolutely outstanding. It was beautifully decorated, moist and fresh, with perfectly proportioned ingredients, down to the size of the carrot shreds. The cream cheese frosting was SO delicious, too. It was a dreamy combination of sweet and tangy, but still tasted like cream cheese, with a wonderful rich flavor and perfect fluffy-yet-sturdy texture. Took a drive to Morgan Hill after searching for a place to eat at for about an hour on yelp. This place has 4 star overall review’s “in my opinion my fellow yelper’s missed the mark again!, well at least the ones that gave them less than 5 stars C;” This place is unbelievable “dare I say better than my fave place in Rancho Cucamonga? This may be the best bakery in the South Bay. This family owned bakery has the best variety of baked goods I've had in the South Bay. They have the best blueberry scones that often sell out before 11am. A lot of their baked goods will run out so get there early if you are craving something specific. If you call ahead of time you can also request them to hold specific items. All the baked items I have tried are always cooked to perfection never to sweet or overly baked.

They also have a great selection of breakfast items including breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and breakfast plates. The breakfast sandwich is served on an english muffin packed full of bacon, sausage, eggs, cheese, and potatoes. Two people can share a breakfast burrito or sandwich. The breakfast items are a little pricier but definitely worth it. If you have any special request they can usually accommodate you. They also have a great salsa that goes great on any of the breakfast items.
