After a day exploring the beauty of Mount Rainier, we stumbled upon Spiffy’s in Morton—and it was just the kind of stop we didn’t know we needed. With its weathered sign and old-school charm, Spiffy’s has the kind of roadside appeal that makes you hit the brakes.
We tried a bit of everything: the Spiffy Burger and fries ( the burger was large and came cut in half with care!), a hot dog, a corn dog, and chicken tenders. Everything was perfectly cooked and generously portioned. ( the crinkle fries were crunchy on the outside and moist and hot inside - I do wish the portion size of fries was larger in the basket. The Spiffy Burger lives up to its reputation— flavorful, and satisfying. The chicken tenders portion was large were a hit with the kids.
Both boys tried the Cherry Coke shake of the month and expressed how good It was.
Though it has a rustic look, don’t let appearances fool you. The food is good, the prices are more than fair, and the staff is as friendly and welcoming as you could hope for. There’s a reason this place draws in locals, travelers, and nearby workers alike.
If you’re anywhere near Morton, make time for a stop at Spiffy’s. Whether you’re craving a burger, a shake, or just a quick, satisfying bite—this spot delivers. The reasons for the 4 rating are : fry portion size in the basket and the burger although exactly what I expected but bigger, was out of the freezer and not homemade. Which is fine for a diner but...
Read moreStopped here after a weekend camping trip. Everything is your typical fast food offerings: crinkle fries, tots, burgers, chicken nuggets, etc. We went in around 7 or so at night and were told they already put the soup up, also were told no banana splits as they were out of bananas. I got the fishwich, it was good but nothing spectacular. The icecream cone I got, the icecream had that icy texture when icecream has partially melted and then been refrozen. My daughter and nephew both got the chicken nugget basket. His nuggets came out overcooked, hers were fine. My brother and sister-in-law got the shrimp basket, the shrimp is served tail on, that in itself isn't so strange, but the fact that the tail is also battered is. The inside of the restuarant is nice looking. The atmosphere is sort of strange, it looks like a dine-in, be waited on sort of place, but in reality, you order at a counter and they then bring your food out. When dining in, your drink is served in a cheap styrofoam cup, no refills. The food is also a bit overpriced for the offerings. If I was passing through I would have no issue stopping by again, but wouldn't go out of my way just...
Read moreI usually like eating here but lately I've noticed some things that need fixing. While observing orders being made, I watched a cook fill the raw hamburger tray and place it in the freezer. Then I watched them with the same gloves they had just used for grabbing raw meat then grab a bun off the grill and start putting fresh veggies on the sandwich. I was grossed out and concerned by this but believed it was probably a one time thing with a new cook or something. So I went again tonight to buy a burger, but while waiting in line to have my order taken, I noticed a different cook doing the same thing.. they did not change their gloves between placing raw meat on the grill and then proceeded to grab a paper liner for ready serve food with the same gloves that handled raw meat and then began touching burger buns and fresh veggies with them as well. I was so disappointed to see this happening. Please Spiffys, educate your staff on the importance of food safety. I'd love to continue to eat here but as long as this is...
