I love Delish on Main! This wonderful breakfast/lunch eatery is a gem in a small and charming northern eastern Pennsylvania town. You feel like you're family here and not the kind of family you dread seeing on the holidays but the kind of family you anticipate seeing all week and are sad when you have to leave. Delish on Main has great, hearty, honest food that's prepared with care and proper cooking technique. The potatoes that are cooked here, shine bright like a diamond. The home fries are thin sliced and are layered with great seasoning and come out crispy, tender and delicious! Fries aren't just any old frozen bag fries here; they're cut from fresh, real potatoes and are fried to crispy on the outside and are soft and creamy on the inside like all fries are meant to be. Moral of the story, get the potatoes, no matter what style you like. Breakfast is "the most important meal of the day" and I love having it here because there's all the great diner classics plus delicious specials, like the stuffed French toast and great omelette creations. All made fresh and to order! I'm a stickler for old school diner fair and they offer hot open sandwiches that are covered in a silky, savory gravy with your choice of roast beef, roast turkey of burger patty. Served with your choice of potato (get the cheese fries!) and vegetable. This is a solid choice because it's the best comfort food to get stuffed with. I have yet to try any of the desserts because I get so full on the savory foods that I just don't have it in me to have anything sweet. But it's on my agenda and I'll leave room next...
Read moreLet me start by saying this is a small town, local folk type of a restaurant. We were referred here by someone at a nearby antique store. I think the ambiance was lovely and comfortable. The servers and other staff were all quite friendly and accommodating. The menu did not excite me personally, so I ended up getting a Greek salad.
I was anticipating that there would be onions, kalamata olives, lots of fresh feta cheese and so on. However, what I received was pretty disappointing. See the photo, but in short I'll tell you the red stuff was what seemed to be bottled peppers and the feta cheese was very powdery and not at all tasty. The salad dressing was pretty nondescript, tasting kind of like oil and vinegar. The olives were the black variety and there were chickpeas. I guess for a small town this is what I should have expected, but it just wasn't what I would consider a good tasting salad. The other salad in the photo was a taco salad. I can't vouch for how it tasted, but it sure was pretty.
For three of us having a salad and one drink the bill came to just over $50. I thought that was pretty steep for a salad that was so cheaply made.
For the food alone I would have rated a three, but it really was very cozy and the staff quite nice, so the experience was a...
Read moreVery delicious food and nice atmosphere. A couple of critiques - we weren’t sure you were open and we weren’t sure which door to go in until we got closer.
Also, we wish the drinks were bottomless unless they were super special like if you made homemade orange juice or something. Most places have bottomless beverages, so it seemed a little like penny-pinching to me.
I got the cheese and tomato panini and it’s advertised to come with pickles and chips. I anticipated pickle spears and a good amount of chips to fill up the basket, but it was 2 slices of bread & butter pickle chips (not homemade) and a 3/4 ounce bag of Middleswarth potato chips. I love that you went with a super famous local brand of chip, but.. 3/4 oz seemed like more penny pinching to me. It left me still hungry when I’m usually the type of person who eats half and takes the rest home to eat the next day.
I sampled some of my companion’s food and the scrapple was AMAZING and so were the home...
