Have tried to order a custom cake twice.. first time was Father’s Day week and I called with 3 days notice and was informed it was not enough time which I understood maybe they were too busy. I was trying to order a German chocolate cake at the point. Fast forward this past week I went in to make a custom cake & cookie order for my daughters birthday and asked if I could speak to someone about a custom order which she then replied “for when” and I said next week and she said smiling “I’m all booked up next week”… nothing else was said. No question to what I was even needing, if maybe there would be a way to accommodate, nothing. So I said okay and left and as I was leaving I saw German chocolate cupcakes in the glass window which brought me back to the first time I tried to order there and they told me there wasn’t enough time but had they told me they sold the german chocolate cupcakes in their bakery I would have just came and gotten one or two of those. But both times I’ve tried to order it has been an immediate no saying “all booked”. The first time with a 3 day notice I understand. But this last time I went in 8 days before I needed my order and the website says a 7 day notice was required for custom cake orders. So I was a day within that rage. Anyway, I took the loss and was going to look elsewhere so I posted on Facebook looking for recommendations on a baker that could fill my order in the time I needed and THEY COMMENTED AND SAID THEY COULD??? Hours after I went into the shop and was immediately shot down and told no. So I replied back to them and stated that and got 0 response or any kind of message trying to make things right. My grandfather built this house, and it contains so many happy childhood memories. You can imagine how excited I was to attend Gladeville Scoops & Sweets's soft opening and sample their delicious ice cream while reminiscing. I had a generous one-scoop cone of Cotton Candy ice cream (YUM), and my mother had The Coconut Bowl, which will likely become an instant classic. The owners were so welcoming, the staff was friendly, and there were so, so many friendly smiles on BOTH sides of the counter . . . I think my grandparents and my father would be thrilled that a fun, wholesome business is operating there, once again bringing another central gathering spot for all ages to The Glade. Very cute little ice cream and sweet treat shop. They have traditional ice cream flavors and a few açaí/coconut bowls. I am a donut fan so I tried the donut ice cream sandwich with cotton candy and it was delicious. It would appeal to me even more if the donut were glazed, but it was still good. It’s awesome to have a place like this...
