I travel regionally. So I look for unique mom and pop restaurants, to support. (All those who work in the, Duke drive industrial park area) Don’t sleep on this restaurant—HIDDEN JEWEL! It says it’s located in Mount Juliet, TN; but the township is actually called, Gladeville. This restaurant has a southern twang niche! I felt really at home. The prices were very reasonable. Most importantly the service was spectacular! Susie and Jasmine were the two waitresses on duty, I didn’t know which one was assigned to me. If they pass by my table they hollered at me to check if I needed anything! I didn’t have to put any additional seasoning on my food (I ordered, Country fried steak; with a side order of chicken and dumplings and broccoli casserole); but I love pepper so I put extra pepper in it. The corn bread and all the desserts, are made from scratch! No prefabricate store-bought! Now, the sweet tea was southern style; yet it still has a good taste balance! Either way, make sure your diabetes is in check! My service was: “fast, good,” and reasonably cheap! You have to go there to understand, what I’m...
Read more2nd time eating here on our 2nd visit to the State Park. Both times were fantastic. Greeted as soon as you enter, waitress is asking what you what to drink as soon as you sit down.. Drinks on table before you can blink an eye. All the food comes out hot and fresh. This time I got the patty melt and onion rings, both were fantastic, and did I say hot? I also got a side of baked beans, those were amazing, never had baked beans like that before. Not sure what they put in them, but they are packed with goodness. Wife got the fried bologna sandwich and fries. Fries were hot, fresh, and nicely seasoned, nice size smooth cut fries, with a little bit of skin on. Bologna was a nice thick cut, cross hatched and seasoned well, grilled just right. It is a little loud inside, but not too bad. The waitress checks on you and fills your drinks just enough to not be a bother. We had the same waitress both visits, and she is a Rock Star. Don't pass this place up if you are in the area. It's about a 15 minute drive from Cedars of...
Read moreIt was a neat place. Good prices. Tasty food, and they serve a variety of healthy vegetables. An increasing rarity. The waitress was a nice young lass. My only minor gripes are hardly worth mentioning. I always mention if the salad at a place is iceberg lettuce. It is. Salad people, I feel, like green lettuce or spinach. But any salad is better than none. The turnip greens were tasty, but a small portion. She offered me vinegar, which is great! I keep a bottle of Bragg's vinegar in my car all the time, for the probiotics. Everyone needs their fermented foods. Seriously, if you don't know about the incredible health benefits of unpasteurized, fermented foods, put this down and go listen to some U of Cali lectures on YouTube. The cornbread was extraordinary. Perfect cook and, dare I say, a mild smokey flavor? It was excellent. The hamburger steak was good too. Mushroom and onion gravy that had a good amount of both in it. The space was cozy and everyone was very nice. I...
