This place is a pay-as-you-enter, all-you-can-eat, Chinese buffet that has an all day buffet when they're open. She already knew I was there for the buffet, so all she asked me was if I'd like a pop. I said yes, paid the $12 I was charged, and headed to the fountain pop machine. Dr. Pepper or Mt. Dew is what I always look for. I saw both, so I chose Dr. Pepper. Then I went and sat my pop on a table, so I'd have both hands free. I grabbed myself a plate. I got General Tso's Chicken, breaded mushrooms, pizza, and Sushi. The General Tso's Chicken literally had no heat or spice to it whatsoever. It was just sweet. It was kind of like eating breaded chicken soaked with Western Salad Dressing. The breaded mushrooms were okay. They weren't dried out or anything which was good. The pizza was pretty good, but tasted like a cheap Totino's pizza (good sauce, flaky crust, cheap toppings). And the Sushi was pretty good. It was decent. The overall quality of the food at the buffet wasn't very good food though. If you think McDonald's has low quality food, this place has it beat. I'm not submitting any pictures because the food looks way better than what it actually is. I would eat here again for the Sushi, but probably not for anything else. If the Taste of China in Washington, Iowa has 4 star Chinese food, this place has 3 star Chinese food. If you're not too picky of an eater, I'd recommend this place, but if you're a penny pincher like me that's concerned about what they're paying for the quality of their food, I wouldn't...
Read moreThe food was decent. Tastes fresh, they do a pretty good job overall. There’s a lot of dishes with imitation crab, and also lots of dishes that uses chicken - like “Mongolian chicken”?? Probably cheaper to use those ingredients. I miss these meatballs that they used to have, ground pork stuffed with shrimp. They were my mom’s favorite dish there.
I miss the old days of Jumbo Buffet, with real dishes and cutlery. It’s been a few years since I’ve visited Jumbo Buffet, but today’s visit really feels like a downgrade in the quality of the food and cutlery compared to what it was in the past. I’ve never seen a restaurant use foam dishes and plastic cutlery. At least there were still real cups for cold drinks, I suppose? And the plastic cutlery was pretty good quality. The ambience of the restaurant was still the same as it was years ago, and I actually kinda like it that way...
Read moreIt was only a couple of things I didn't like. The desserts were pretty much picked over by the time I got there, there was no cold shrimp, and no cottage cheese or pink fluff to go with the fruit. Everything else I want at a Chinese buffet was terrific. The hot and sour soup was perfect. It wasn't weird, it didn't have sugar in it, it didn't have bell peppers in it, it was delicious. the egg rolls were fantastic. The Steamed potstickers were fresh and hot, and the dipping sauce for them was out of this world. That's all I would say, put some pink fluff and cottage cheese on the bar for the fruit, and put some ice cold shrimp on the bar as well. Much...
