On Sunday, October 13th, my family and I visited the Swig and Swine location in Mount Pleasant, situated at Shipyard Park on the Wando River. This visit included my son, daughter, and me, and while we are familiar with the Swig and Swine chain - usually dining at the Moncks Corner location - this was our first time at the Mount Pleasant restaurant.
My son ordered the pulled pork half-pound plate, which comes with two sides. He chose the baked potato salad and beans with brisket. He also started with an appetizer of Pimento dip and Ritz crackers, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
My daughter went for the Big Nasty BBQ sandwich, and for her side, she chose the tater-tot casserole. For dessert, she had peach cobbler with ice cream.
As for me, I opted for the sausage dog and also chose the tater-tot casserole for my side. The casserole was decent, but I was definitely disappointed with the sausage dog. Its small portion, especially when compared to my sonâs pulled pork platter, left me wishing I had ordered the same as him. Given the mere $2 difference, the pulled pork was clearly the better value.
I felt like I should have been served two of the sausage dogs for the price I was charged.
Our service was exceptional. Our server, Morgan, was attentive, friendly, and efficient. She made the experience pleasant for all of us, and we never felt rushed or neglected.
There is ample parking available, but the number of spaces can fluctuate depending on whatâs happening both at the restaurant and the nearby sports complex.
The drive to the restaurant was enjoyable, with scenic back roads offering a relaxing lead-up to the meal.
Overall, the quality of the food, combined with the excellent service, still made for a...
Read moreThe food was underwhelming and overpriced, to say the least.
I ordered the half pound of smoked turkey which turned out to be your average, nearly flavorless, sliced deli meat. Youâll find the same quality meat at Kroger or Walmart, but if you want to have something better Iâd suggest trying Publix.
One of my sides was the macaroni and cheese. Again, save your money and just buy Velveta or Kraftâs microwaveable cups of Mac & Cheese. Their version was a disgusting, soupy mess with very little flavor.
My other side was the potato salad which was, again, a waste of money. The best touch was that the potatoes were sliced cross-sectionally instead of diced, but they ruined it with the ungodly amount of mayo that they used. It was essentially a mountain of mayonnaise with potatoes mixed in, and Old Bay seasoning sprinkled on topâthey couldnât even be bothered to mix it in with the potato salad.
The highlight was the habanero margarita that I ordered. A tad spicy at first for somebody like me who doesnât eat a lot of spice, but that was a highlight. I got used to the heat rather easily and it was a nice drink. Itâs hard to mess up a margarita, so at least they can mix a few premade ingredients together.
My wife ordered one of their BBQ sandwiches which was so flavorless that the sauces couldnât save it, and she didnât want to finish it. Thankfully, it was happy hour so it only cost $5.
Ultimately, I wouldnât give this food to a starving dog, let alone spend my money on it again. Everyone...
Read moreThe atmosphere was nice, and the server was very hospitable. I can't remember his name, but he had dark hair and tall. As far as the food, the homemade sausage had a great taste, but rather tough. Perhaps over smoked? The pork belly was "ok" as it is claed smoked, but didn't taste the smoke. Thier Jalapeño BBQ sauce really lifted the lack of individual taste. The corn pudding was a bit dried out, but pallette with a great taste. The brisket beans were a lovely compliment to the meat. I also ordered the 4 side plate. I ordered the hash and rice, mac and cheese, Cole slaw and grits. The Mac tasted good to me, as well as the grits. Im glad they dont use instant grits, or if they did, then those "quick" grits are good. The coleslaw was flavorful but a bit too wet, yet good. The hash and rice were not pleasing at all, so the replacement was the potato salad. The potato salad is more of a sour cream base....I really liked it.
The pork rind nachos were very tasty with the pulled pork and honey Tabasco, jalapeños, and queso drizzle and BBQ sauce. The only downside with those are, if you dont eat the quick enough, they are soggy and chewy. The queso set up so quickly as we were sat under the ac that I had to ask for more. BUT VERY tasty! I ordered a bag of pork rinds to go and they gave you a good bit for 7.00. The total bill for two 2 meat plates, 4 side plate, pork rind nachos, a bag of pork rinds, and two waters were $86 and some change.
Wasn't a bad visit! We visited on the 14th of June...
