Jorge's Kitchen — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

I remember when Jorge was just slangin his tacos and those insanely amazing burritos from his truck out back behind Little Mountain Grocery years and years ago. We had talked one day when I was waiting for my order(been a loyal and constant customer of his since the very beginning) and he asked my opinion on whether it was a smart idea to move his setup inside the store there and would it be a good location that'd be worth while for both him and his customers. I said not only would it be a smart idea but I was confident that by him doing that, it would allow for him to grow and bring in not only a lucrative business and customer base but would undoubtedly make him very happy. And to this day when I see Jorge he tells me that it was one of the best decisions that he's ever made and is very very happy to have created such an awesome "family" of customers. His food is hands down the best in town and although the dining area may be kind of small, it is still comfortable for what it is and if you gotta take it home, there's still never a complaint to be had. In the great Mount Vernon taco competition, Jorge's is a strong competitor. However, when it comes to tacos, I would give the edge to Carniceria Los Compadres. It wouldn't be fair to discuss the great Mount Vernon taco competition without a tip of the sombrero to COA on 10th Street in Mount Vernon. With that said, the only menu item I've eaten from Jorge's are the tacos. I plan to return to try more than the tacos. Jorge's was doing a brisk business mid afternoon on a Sunday the last time I was there. A bit of chaos keeping orders straight. Our take out order was missing the rice and beans. I used to think this place was awesome.....went and spent 11.99 on a casadilla,and asked for extra sauces,which I asked for 3,and received 2....and at the price of an extra $13.49 somehow that I didn't catch..so if I divide that,that's over 4 dollars each sauce,which they fill half full anyways.....I have a picture of my receipt they hand wrote to prove it,even though it's barely eligible....will never go back again and recommend anyone to stay away,they run this biz like coke dealers,Rip off Willy nilly pricing, always changing employees,quality changing...don't trust em anymore and I grew up by this gas station and...
