Cozy, charming, intimate, good lighting but not too bright! We arrived in the last hour and a half of business on a Wednesday, and we were greeted warmly. There were a couple of large parties and the place is small so they were a little loud, but that's nothing I'd hold against the establishment.
We were seated promptly and immediately greeted by our server, who was very sweet. She was very polite, she took our drink orders right away and did not delay with the delivery of those drinks or the complimentary bread.
Our salads came out within a few minutes and they were the perfect portion. (To note, they don't have Caesar salad or ranch dressing.) The dijonnaise dressing is very good though!
With perfect timing our entrees were brought out, we had the La Doba A La Nissarda, which was also a perfect portion and it was delicious! The perfect meal for a chilly winter night!
Our server was very courteous and swept away the dishes after each course at just the right moment. After leaving us just enough time for the main course to settle, our server presented us with the dessert menu. Being a fan of Crème Brûlée anywhere I dine, of course that was my dessert choice. Their version of Crème Brûlée did NOT disappoint!
Overall this was a very pleasant experience and we will definitely...
Read moreI so wanted to love this place! The menu was great, as was the ambiance. I loved that the kids menu was beyond the typical "chicken nuggets and fries" at most places. Maybe they were having an off day, but service was incredibly slow, and really not that great. The staff were all very friendly, at least. It took forever to get our food - both the appetizers and main courses. We had to ask for water refills - after waiting several (and I mean several) minutes with empty glasses. I understand that things happen in the kitchen that are beyond the servers' control - but at least be attentive to us while the kitchen sorts out their issues! Don't just make us wait for 20 minutes and THEN apologize while you bring our appetizer. Then at least another 20 minutes with no contact, until you apologize while serving us the main dish. The food was good, and would be at least four stars, but the service just didn't cut it for me, I'm sorry to say. But, if you do go, try the socca - that was my favorite part of...
Read moreGreat food, rude server. I've been to Chez Lulu multiple times for dinner, breakfast, brunch, etc. Usually, it's great. Food is very fresh and very unique. The last time I was there, I went with a party of six others. When we arrived, waters were waiting on the table. I grabbed a water and started drinking it as soon as I sat down. Later, when another member of our party sat down, I realized I'd mistakenly taken his water. The waiter was standing right there and I told him we'd need another water. He looked highly annoyed and said, "So you drank his water?" I was shocked. I said "Are you serious?" and he huffily walked down to the end of the table to get a full glass of water sitting there. Our whole party just stared at him, not believing how offended he was over that. He was condescending toward us during the entire meal (and we aren't teenagers or obnoxious- we're a group of adults). He made our dining experience unpleasant, even though the food was delicious. I...
