Leaf & Petal at the Gardens — Local services in Birmingham

I chose to shop at this beautiful store for a couple of plants for my granddaughter and I. It was storming so we stayed in the store a little longer than expected along with other customers. One of the workers seemed to be a very kind lady (tall lady with white or blonde hair) was talking to me and a few other customers, not long after me thinking she was nice, she noticed some of what she said was " her rocks" was mixed together in a little turtle display. She was upset and stated that "she wish she knew what child did that and that she would have them work for child slave labor." My 7yr old granddaughter whispered to me that she had saw some little kids do it and I said ok. Yes I am a African American woman with an African American granddaughter and I didn't say anything and it kind of bothered me not because of race, but more so because I'm a mother, a grandmother and I love children and to think that it's ok for a child of any race to work slave labor is heartbreaking. That's part of the reason for child trafficking now. As a future Business owner in Retail, I know that children will come in my store and sometimes they get a little busy touching things. Got in touch with leaf and petal for my wedding details and what I needed. Margeret told me to send her pictures, I sent her pictures of everything I wanted. However, I never heard back from Margeret so I gave her a call she said she would get back to me soon I waited a couple of days and there was nothing from her about my detailed quotes. So I sent her an email telling her how disappointed I was. She proceeded to tell me “leaf + petal is not available for your wedding” So I will just say this place is extremely unprofessional, and with wedding planning already being stressful, this place does not help. In the shop today, the owner was walking around, complaining loudly to her staff about vendors, arrangement of shelves and other matters inappropriate for public venting. A very unpleasant experience. I assumed this person was an owner, because she was walking around the store, rearranging the shelves, while carrying on a very loud conversation with employees behind the counter, referring to customers (not present in the store) by name and discussing whether or not they would purchase various items.
