This is hands down some if the best food I have ever eaten. The barbra-struben is amazing. The smoked wings are to die for. My wife always gets the Appalachian Cold Cut a truly divine sandwich. The ancient grains is a light, healthy and delicious side to compliment any sandwich and the soups make you keep coming back for more. From the fresh lemonade to the fresh fruit everything is done to perfection. They also have a range of coffee selections that rival any of the fine dining coffee houses. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxed and inviting with an upscale feel. But by far as great as the food is their best quality is the service. They are some of the friendliest, most genuine, customer service focused people I have ever known. Their customer service makes me feel like royalty, there truly is no experience like it. If you are hungry and want to go out to breakfast or lunch in Mountain City there is nothing in town on this level. If you have not tried it yet you will not be disappointed. Thank you Pickled Beet, you have blessed me and my family in...

Stopped in on a recommendation from bikers we met on the Back of the Dragon. Group of us had breakfast there before taking a run down the Snake. Charming little place.

We were treated to true Southern Hospitality. Being from just south of Baltimore, this is about as well as I've ever been treated and taken care of EVER. The lady running the place was awesome. The other guy helping kept our drinks full. Food was great. I had a croissant with bacon + sausage + egg + cheese and I think some type of aoli. Exceptional.

Will return again when in that area. I fell in love with the whole area honestly. Such great people. Beautiful little town. PS-we were the guys who returned to the park on July 4th...

Go! Couldn't decide between a quiche or the chicken salad croissant. Told the lady it was my first time there and she helped me decide on the chicken salad with the veggie soup as a side. Also got a Fox Den cinnamon crunch stuffed cookie and a hot London Fog. Everything was executed perfectly and with care. Crispy, flaky croissant with nice chunks of chicken and I was only able to eat half. Flavorful soup with veg that still had some crunch. Probably the best London Fog I've ever had. The cookie must weigh half a pound: I am too full to try it right now but it can't possibly be anything less awesome than the rest. $18.xx for everything plus tip. A true...

Has to be the best lunch in Mountain City! Growing up here, there were always limited, homegrown restaurants. But Jamie and Temper have nailed it! This is a must if you’re in town for breakfast/lunch. 6-8 items for breakfast, plus 8-10 items for lunch. I had the Barb-stien (better version of a Rueben) with potato salad and I don’t know how he makes that sandwich so light. Wife had chicken salad sandwich that was also very tasty. The sides are also local only (no chips), but get the potato salad!

What a treasure to find in this small mountain city :) From the adorable and welcoming decor, to the adorable and welcoming staff, we enjoyed every part of the experience here. And the FOOD. Top quality, fresh, generous portions, and not one bite was boring with the array of sauces and accompaniments. Very vegetarian friendly! Pictured is the grilled cheese du jour, with a garlic spread and a side of tomato dipping sauce, potato salad, and the grain and root veggie salad
