After going to the snowbike races in Mullan on New year's Eve, we went to the Outlaw for dinner.... And weren't the only ones. The bar quickly became really, really crowded, and the staff a bit overwhelmed. That's NOT to say it wasn't a good experience, just really, really busy. At one point, one of the customers (who also works there part time) got up and started bartending to help out. I got a burger (which really was excellent) and my husband a bacon sandwich (which he said was ok). They did warn us it would take a while for the food (about an hour), but even with the crush of people, the staff still was smiling and joking with the customers. There's not a wide selection of beers, but we didn't really expect one. We noticed most folks were ordering beer in bottles. Definitely reasonably priced.

Today was only Jo Jo’s and cheap American Pilsner. Having said that? I’ve exhaustively ordered everything on the menu. They have yet to fail at anything they do, in fact we could take that far enough to say they excel spectacularly at EVERYTHING they do. Sure, sometimes it’s a cold minute to get your burger, bear in mind folks, it takes a full 15 minutes to cook a 1/2# burger … Drinks are well done. Beer variety is adequate for a town of 840 people. And? Open seating for your minor companions (family outings anyone?) until the kitchen closes. Atta Well Done!!! (Outlaw Sauce is life!!!!!)

It’s a pretty cool local haunt. Burgers are good. Just takes a little while for him to cook everything since everything‘s cooked right there next to the bar. But if you happen to be there when there’s not a ton of people service can be a lot faster. Of course it’s a bar so drinks are always as good as the bartender. Neat mining town right off the interstate so easy to get to and not full of tourist.

Rode our bikes from Wallace to Mullan and were told the burgers and onion rings were great at the outlaw. The Brooks Hotel restaurant gave you a great referral. The onion rings were indeed good; however, the service was very….unfriendly. They were busy with a big to go order but wow, felt like a major inconvenience from the moment I walked in. The waitress never smiled, and it was clear I was in her way and she side stepped around me a couple times to access the fridge where the draft menu was hanging on. When I was in her way she asked “are you here for a to go order?!!” Nope! Silly me, I was just reading the draft menu.

I asked if I could sit with a beer out front at the picnic table and the first priority was making it very clear that I wouldn’t be served outside. Again, wow. Cool place, maybe just an off day.

We would have likely ordered a big batch of to go burgers and sat across the street but not being...
