During my recent visit, I was truly impressed by the experience. The establishment boasted a chic modern art deco vibe, creating an inviting and stylish atmosphere. The house margaritas stood out as perfection in a glass—not too sweet, not too sour—making for a delightful start to the meal. The chips were a delightful contradiction: warm and both soft and crispy, setting the stage for what turned out to be a memorable dining experience. The chicken street tacos offered commendable flavor, although the meat was slightly on the dry side. However, the highlight had to be the pork tacos, prepared in a delectable pork verde style that surpassed my expectations. Accompanying rice and beans complemented the meal beautifully, adding to the overall satisfaction. A notable mention goes to the restroom facilities, which were impressively clean, reflecting the restaurant's attention to detail in maintaining a pleasant environment. This charming little spot is a must-visit, and I'm eagerly looking forward to sampling their Sunday buffet. It's places like these that remind me why I love exploring new dining experiences!

My son ordered a combo plate that had a burrito/enchilada/taco on it. Your choice of meat, & 1 side, (my son got rice, and a side of refired beans. You can tell the beans were homemade, very tasty.) I ordered the steak street taco dinner. Generous portion of 5 tacos with a side. The service was impeccable. The food was fresh & hot. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. The only downside, is it doesn't seem very handicap accessible. The entry would be difficult for someone utilizing a wheelchair/walker. Perhaps there is an alternate door we can use? Other than that, it was great service and pretty good food. The steak tacos were a tad bit fatty for my liking, but I'm not complaining by any means. My hubby said he enjoyed the fat on the meat. The chips and salsa were fresh and homemade. They had a variety of salsas which was cool.

#empiretacos, Mulvane, KS. I was at a conference being held at the #KansasStar casino and wanted some tacos. Did a quick Google search and this place popped up. Cruised by a liquor store - #partylineliqour, and then swung in to Empire Taco on the way back....I'm so glad I did! This place was awesome. Food was good, marg was ok, staff was friendly and talkative and learned a little history. Definitely will be back next time I'm in #MulvaneKS Marg, triple combo, chicken tostada, bean, beef and cheese burrito, fried beef taco, chips, salsa, tip less than 25 bucks!

We're not from mulvane and we came here last night since we were in town. We walked in and thought what an adorable place. Just very nice looking. Bathroom was nice. We were impressed by the sight of it. We asked the waitress what her favorite was and what was the most popular items ordered there since we've never been there before. She responded with the smothered enchiladas, street tacos and fajitas. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered a Monterey the junior. My friend ordered the smothered enchiladas since they were the most popular. But he also ordered a cheese dip and had chips and salsa. Here's where it all starts to go downhill. The salsa tastes like tomato sauce. The mild and the hot. The only salsa that was good was the medium. It was the green salsa. We received our cheese dip. I'm pretty sure it's Velveeta. With nothing else in it. No Rotel no nothing just melted Velveeta. It was not great so we added the not great salsa to it. It made it a little better both of them. I ordered a margarita strawberry. It was decent. Then we get our meals...... And like I said I ordered the Monterey with steak, but what I received was a tostada. It was okay. Nothing special. Nothing to write home about I was not impressed. Now on to the enchiladas...... She got the ground beef with the red sauce. do not get the red sauce unless you were looking for chili enchiladas. The red sauce tastes like a chili paste. They were not good at all. My friend pretty much eats anything so she ate two bites. Decided really not great. So she poured the cheese sauce on top and took one more bite and it was a no-go. She could not force it down. She took one bite of her rice. Not good. One bite of the beans. At least what they call. Beans not good. We waited quite a while for the waitress to come over and check on us. She asked how everything was. My friend told her not great. It was not great at all. I can't eat it. She asked if we would like anything else and she said no not really. This was due to the fact that pretty much everything we have tasted was not great so we didn't want something else. That was just not great. We had plenty of that. So assuming since she only took three bites of it and they were going to take that off the check? They were gone for quite a while and when she came back she brought us sopapillas. We didn't ask for them. I understand why they brought them to smooth everything over but that did not work. The manager ended up coming over and said you ate half of your plate. We're not refunding you. Which was untrue. She took three bites. Which that's what we said, she wanted to sit there and argue with us? And was extremely rude. Both me and my friend have been waitresses our entire life. We're in our forties. At any restaurant we would work at. If someone only took three bites of their meal we would refund their check. We would happily pay for everything else including the sopapillas that they gave to us for free.

Moral of this story is, if you like Mexican food but you want it as white as possible then you can eat here. But if you like real Mexican food that actually has flavor and taste do not go to this restaurant. Do not go to this restaurant. Also they should look into better management. I've never been to a restaurant and been treated like we were last night. I highly do not...

So we wanted to try something new so we decided to drive out to Mulvane. Heard it was part of the Filepes family so figured it would be good...On the plus side the decor was nice. I like the old brick building. Ok not really impressed with anything else, the food was eh. Our waitress needed training or something. It was like we were her first ever table. She seemed lost.

I got some combo platter and an ice tea with extra ice (because tea always melts the ice).. got the tea in a glass mason jar with a handle which I liked reminded me of my grandparents house. But it needs to be a lot bigger size. The one they use should be a kids cup, hardly any ice so my tea was warm and was gone quickly...the combo I ordered had a fried flour taco, bean and cheese burrito and a beef enchilada with beans and rice...1st, no chips and salsa unless you order and pay for them as a separate appetizer (bummed about that). My friend ordered a fried taco and appetizers - so we tried the fried avocados and the fried jalapenos and onions...appetizers were ok...not anything exceptional but pretty good; the sauce that they served with it added a lot of flavor (was kinda like an avocado ranch) My taco was ok..but very bland and greasy. The burrito was ok but they put it in a sandwich press or something so the outside was kinda crispy and flat, more tortilla thst filling and very hard to cut through with a fork. The enchilada was terrible. Had one bite and left the rest on my plate. First it was ICE COLD, second it had no flavor. Had to ask for a refill on my tea, she brought my glass back with warm tea, not a single ice cube. I gave up and left it sitting on the table with the enchilada. Not worth the drive...I'll stick with Casa Martinez in Derby or Filepes Jr. It's by my house and better food. You...

Food is mostly good. The fried tacos and tostada shells were fried in older grease this time and it tasted not the best. HOWEVER, the service is HORRENDOUS. Almost every time we go, the service seems judgemental and only friendly when they have yet to see a tip. ANYWHO, this time there was a football game on, all the waitresses were sitting at the bar watching and eating while guests were having to ask to get refills. The customers. We were one of those. Our table was swamped with dirty dishes and I did not know for sure if we were to use the same ones again. A waitress walks by and I asked if someone was supposed to take these away. She was offended at that and just sat our dishes on the bar. When she picked that up aggressively, she comes back and gets close to my face, for no reason, and says "Thank you" and stook there and looked dead in my face. And it was not friendly. Also, aggressively. I was offended and angry that I was treated that way. We could not believe that treatment. I was watching while there were 5 waitresses and 8 tables were filled and most of those tables were not being served and having to ask the servers to take refill their drinks. I don't know about the dishes though. Poor service, due laziness and the inability to not watch the game for their customers. I watched her talk about me to her coworkers. Needless to say, these waitresses need more training and better...
