I lived in Muskego for 4 years and can't believe we just tried this spot for the first time! It is one of the most beautiful brunch spots I have visited! The inside decor is breathtaking and the outside is so serene. This is a restaurant/bakery and also has a drive through. They offer the BEST customer service we have seen in a while, right when you walk in, they greet you and tell you how long your wait is, there will be a wait, but is so worth it. While you wait you can explore outside or walk through the inside and check out the decor. They also ask if you want a beverage right away and have a drink while you wait. When your table is ready the server will come find you outside or anywhere you are. I had a sangria and it was made perfectly and all the fresh fruit inside made it more amazing. The owners were working there as everyone else, we didn't know they were the owners until another couple who are regulars mentioned it to us when we shared it was our first time there. The prices were so reasonable as well. Can't wait to go back, there is so much on the menu I want to try! I had the garden egg benedic and it was delicious. Oh and the bloody Mary was outstanding too! #brunch #sangria #wisconsin #bloodymary

We've been picking up coffee and desserts from here over the last few years and my son and I have loved it. A few months ago we tried the tres leches cake, a slice from the counter was the best cake I'd ever had. I told my husband immediately I want this for my birthday. So I ordered a 6" tres leches cake. It was exactly what I had ordered on the outside, absolutely beautiful! But the cake itself was dry. It's more like a slightly over cooked white cake, it wasn't anything like the cake slice from IN the case. I did call to let them know and see if maybe there was a mix up. After checking into it and a talk with the master baker the manager explained their tres leches is not a wet cake. Personally, based on what has been severed to us several times from IN the case by single slice vs the $55 cake we bought, something went wrong. They were not close to being the same. She said if you want to order a wet cake you can request extra drizzle at no charge, I highly recommend that if you're interested in ordering from them.. based on what we got, it needs it! I'll probably go back for coffee and desserts in the case at some point. It's to cramped for us to sit down to eat so the 3 stars are strictly for coffee and desserts in the case as we've never felt comfortable to sit for a meal. For the price, the cake itself and being told there's no way there was possibly a mistake, I'm super disappointed and won't order full cakes here again. (I've been told El Ray makes a great tres leches, so I'll be checking them out next time) (Over a year ago) We recently tried out the bakery here. My favorite item was the cream puff, it was pretty spot on to me to the Wi State Fair cream puff. My son loved the chocolate ganache brownie. We tried a bunch of other items (it was kinda a bad idea to all go in hungry!) My favorite item though was the iced caramel macchiato! I'm totally addicted now! The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the drive thru is great! Stay and watch the chickens, just don't feed them!

We’ve been to the Gingerbread House several times. Unfortunately, this last time, the coffee and bakery were delicious as usual but 2 of our 3 entrees were not well prepared. We arrived at 10:40am on a Friday and were told they were between breakfast and lunch service and there would be a wait for our food. No problem. They stated they would take our order but it wouldn’t be started until 11:00. This was because we wanted lunch. We ordered drinks, a soup and three entrees. Our coffee’s came out after a short wait. It took until almost until 11:35 to receive our entrees. A bit longer than you would expect. 2 burgers and a Caprese melt. We ordered our burgers medium rare. My wife’s was well done mine was incinerated. It didn’t even really taste like a hamburger anymore. Beyond dry. To be honest, I’d rather have it still mooing than over cooked, but this was far beyond over cooked. Why do you even take a temperature if it’s going to be that far off? From my pic you can’t tell because the burgers were presented nicely. Also, ordered a “Bacon” cheeseburger and got one half strip of bacon. Told a lady who checked on our table right after the food arrived, and she said she would take care of it. Which she did with a very large side of bacon to make up for the mistake. Sadly, the bacon they gave me was room temperature at best. Basically coId. I did appreciate the effort, but hot bacon tastes so much better. Service was good. The clam chowder was also good. We will still go back, but hopefully they get their groove back in the kitchen. Also love the livestock roaming the grounds.

Let me start by saying if you are any color but white, don’t even bother coming here.

We were there on Tuesday, July 23 for my daughter’s third birthday.

I figured it would be a perfect place considering they had live chickens outside and it was unique compared to honey berry (wish we went here) or traditional breakfast places

My child is Hispanic and Puerto Rican, her father as well is Hispanic and Puerto Rican and I am a white lady. Just incase anyone wants to say I’m playing the race card.

Can’t really play the race card against my own race here.

That being said I am actually disgusted with the behavior of the manager in itself to the point, it took me two days to even write this review because of how upset I was and still am!

Keep in mind we never been here before and I personally was very excited to take my kiddo there because of the ambiance!

I ended up purchasing a Bluey cake with the intention of bringing it with us, , sing happy birthday with myself & her father. we wanted to keep a very low-key birthday for her to make her feel special. I never realized it would be such a big deal bringing a cake for a three-year-old into a restaurant until this occurrence. ..

Anyways everything was fine when we sat down. I explained to the server after we ordered our food if it was OK she could keep the cake in the back just so it could be out-of-the-way of our small table, she explained there was no problem and would keep it safe.

(The server was probably the ONLY good part of this, total sweetheart)

She came back expressing that they could not have the cake come out because it was a competitor of theirs , I asked if there was anyway, I could take it out of the box (since the only label on it was on the box) and sing happy birthday to my three year old discreetly by just her father and I, I was told she would ask her manager.

Now keep in mind you both myself and the father of my child work in the industry in restaurant service as far as actually running a restaurant downtown so we understand the policies and certain rules that can technically be bent and some that can’t . The way the manager came about the situation was completely uncalled for , she directly made eye contact with the father of my child and insinuated that he’s not in trouble probably about four times over a damn cake??? Why feel the need to say that? Almost scolding him.

A cake For a three year old.. I can understand not allowing the cake in a place because you guys produce other cakes but insinuating that we basically did something wrong while making direct eye contact with the only person of actual color in that establishment. I feel is personally wrong.

And then on top of that, the whole conversation was completely passive , there was no care that it was for three-year-old’s birthday. And seeing the interaction with the other tables of nothing but white people made it very apparent apparent why her demeanor was the way it was!

Now me as a managing partner of a restaurant that is way fancier than this place how I would’ve handled it and maybe this would be constructive criticism for the manager who was working going forward maybe offering an alternative to make that child feel special considering she’s only three would be more appropriate

Instead of just saying “oh you can’t have this cake here” maybe say but instead, I can come out and have my employees sing happy birthday to make her feel special (doesn’t cost you) or you know, considering you’re a bakery, maybe offer a five dollar cookie that you guys have to make her feel special instead of basically saying you’re not in trouble, but obviously you shouldn’t bring a cake to a place that sells cakes??

The entire experience was awful , to the point where I actually shed a tear because of the treatment that I know the father of my child felt on top of that every single person in that place stared at him like he was an alien! This is 2024 if you’re gonna have a restaurant, or even manage one do...

Went to the gingerbread house this afternoon. It was the 1st time for us. 1st impression that it was very nice looking. Set up line an old farm house. Even had a rooster wandering around the wrap around porch/seating area! The wait to get a table wasn’t long and the woman in the front, who seemed to be the owner, was very nice. And then we had to have the waitress ruin what was otherwise a completely charming place. My wife ordered a Bloody Mary and I had a cafe au lait. The waitress asked me if I wanted whip cream and I said no thank you. When she came back with the drinks, my coffee had whip cream on it. Which wasn’t the worst thing in the world. But I pointed out that I said no whip cream. I mean, she specifically asked me about it. And she got the snottiest attitude as she walked away and said she would make another one. I asked my wife if she was seeing what I saw. She said it was completely unacceptable and we decided to just have our drinks and not eat. We weren’t comfortable with the waitress and her obvious attitude. Then when she brought out the new cafe au lait, it was obviously watered down. I asked my wife to taste it. She agreed. At this point we were ready to go. We decided to have my wife drink her Bloody Mary and we would go. Mind you, the owner/manager from the front was incredible. And the cafe itself was very nice. But this waitress! So we left and did not leave her a tip. Bad service and a deliberately bad drink. I felt fine doing that. While we are walking to our car. The waitress yelled “Thanks a lot! Cheers” from the wraparound porch at us while waving the check/receipt. Incredible! I can’t believe this waitress. I felt bad for the owner. This seemed like a nice business with a good atmosphere. And this one horrible employee just ruined it. I definitely won’t be going back and I could recommend...
