It is funny we came here from Lexington North Carolina home of BBQ for North Carolina. We were totally lost here at the lingo the girl at the register used. We asked her if they had red slaw it flew totally over her head. We also asked about vinegar-based BBQ. They did have something like it but she did not have knowledge of it totally. Overall not bad but totally different from what I expected. The portions are not that great here. They definitely need to eat in the Carolinas at Speedy lohr's number 8 in Lexington. And go to Randy's right off of 64. They would definitely learn how to fill the plates. Wife got a sandwich that was so small we couldn't believe it. It is just really sad because this place could be a winner. Be a little less skimpy on regular plates. And at least fill the bun up with barbecue to make it a real sandwich . Make your lingo a little bit more simple at the cash register. Loose meat and chop meat we're very similar here go with the one that's cheaper. Because they are about the exact same thing. The Carolina's as we call it pulled and chopped and sliced. May want to offer people to do their own sauce here. Make the barbecue available for customers to place their own sauce on the BBQ. This is not too bad a place but nothing like good Ole Carolina barbecue places. But most of their customer base seem to be from up North. So maybe this place is Northern style BBQ. Got good traffic here and has been here a while because I went here when I was young. And now I'm a lot older. I liked it better when I was younger I remember they had great collard greens. Wasn't even offered on the menu now. Remember they used to pile it on the plates a little bit more. But like I said overall it's a clean place and the food not so bad. Just may want to order your barbecue dry and put your own sauce on it. And also if you want a good size plate here you need to upsize to the large. The regular is a regular. Not a very big choice of vegetables here. Beverages were all good. Come visit Lexington North Carolina barbecue places you will be totally satisfied. We have a BBQ festival every year downtown one of the biggest celebrations of pork in...
Read moreGot a pulled pork sandwich with slaw. Was looking specifically for Eastern Style BBQ with vinegar and red pepper flake barbecue sauce which they didn't have. The 4 Star is only because I was really looking for that kind of tangy orangish sauce with the red pepper flakes in it and they didn't have it. Something they had that said vinegar on it was something different. Darker. But not every barbecue place has that. They did have something with vinegar which was a little on the sweet side But it wasn't a traditional tangy Eastern Carolina style barbecue vinegar based sauce. They also had other sauces available that you could put in containers and take as a side for whatever you buy. My suggestion to them is that they add a traditional Eastern style barbecue vinegar based sauce to the rest of the sources. It's orangish in color with red pepper flakes in it, slight bit of sugar added but not sweet. It's simple enough to make and there will be people who will want to find that sauce and sometimes it makes all the difference. Barbecue pork sandwich was not bad. I was just looking for it with a little more of everything in it. Like I like little bits of fat and whole hog This was more just meat. But not bad though. And everybody's requirements aren't mine. There was also a lot more on the menu that we didn't get to try that looked really good. Brisket sandwich was good. Did get some of their mustard barbecue sauce on the side for the brisket and that was excellent!! Staff was so nice and helpful. We were trying to find a liquor store and they told us exactly where to go gave us options depending on what we were looking for and the guy at the counter even wrote it down for me. Really sweet friendly staff. I suggest you go and...
Read moreI don't know where to begin... From the second I pulled up in the parking lot it was not what I was hoping to see. Being it was my family's last night in Myrtle for vacation I was expecting a sit down restaurant with a wait staff and a table big enough to accommodate 12 or so of us but It truly is a hole in the wall BBQ joint. Since my cousin's didn't seem to balk upon walking in I thought, "If they don't mind then I won't be a snob about it and since there were several people already eating and a line forming behind our party I thought "there might be something to this place" The menu was reminiscent of the menu in the movie "My Cousin Vinny" Where it consisted of 3 options. "Breakfast" "Lunch" and "Dinner" It lacks options I would come to expect of any legitimate BBQ pitt. This is a one trick pony. Chopped pork is all that is on the menu that I would expect to see at a BBQ place. Albeit it is very good and I enjoyed my Jumbo Sandwich. I was just floored by the lack of options. No BBQ Chicken, No BBQ Turkey, No BBQ Beef ribs, No Brisket, No Ice, Just BBQ Pork. If you want a good Chopped Pork sandwich for lunch and don't mind cleaning your own table before you sit down then this place is great! I would not recommend coming here though with any more than...
