When you pull up to the restaurant you'll find two open gates. Take the entry point in front of the main building. If you take the second entry point, you might accidentally come in contact with a car leaving the restaurant. We followed the walkway to the front door and we were immediately greeted. Our reservation was found and we were seated near the window in the main dining room. We were left with the menus and Fouad (waiter) kindly approached the table. We talked about what wine we're going to order and he offered up few wines to taste. After tasting a few wines, we chose the house pinot noir. We then proceeded to order the oven roasted oysters rockefeller appetizer, surf and turf dinner and ribeye dinner. The oysters arrived in about 5-10 minutes. My wife loves oysters Rockefeller and she said these are the best she has ever had. When I took my first taste of the oyster, my eyes opened up with joy and happiness. I'll give you a secret, there is a special ingredient in this recipe. I won't ruin it for you so ask your waiter what it is.
Now let's focus on the main courses. I asked Fouad what the best sauce is for the steak. Is it the béarnaise filled mushroom cap, brandy green peppercorn or house made steak sauce? He smiled at me like a witness trapped in a tricky cross-examination. He responded by saying, "I'll bring all three to the table." I smiled and said well-played. Soon thereafter the food arrived. The presentation of the food was artistic and clean. Both of our steaks were perfectly cooked. My shrimp and lobster were perfectly seasoned and tasted delicious. I will always remember the wonderful smell of the grilled shrimp. My wife's ribeye had a perfect char and melted in her mouth. Please note I am scared to go to steakhouses with my wife because she turns into a nightmare when the ribeye steak is poorly cooked or under seasoned. Now we began to taste the different sauces. Accidentally, I tried the béarnaise last. Normally I could live with or without béarnaise sauce on a perfectly cooked steak. That is not the case at Cordeiro's. This is by far the best sauce I have ever tasted with or without a steak. I will be dreaming of this sauce until my next visit to Napa. I know you are thinking, can it really be that good? This sauce will pause your life for a few seconds and deliver pure joy. The joy is not over. The waiter brought out a tray of free dessert liquors. Now I am thinking it is time for the check. Then a tray of free chocolate fondue is delivered to the table. I am completely full at this point but I decided to try it. Before I knew what happened, half of it was gone. There can't be more but there is! Then a gold covered chocolate truffle is brought to us in a cigar box. The truffle is made with a hint of their wine and it melted in my mouth. At this point, I needed a wheel chair and my wife to drive us back to the hotel. In conclusion, come hungry and be prepared to have a...
Read moreWell I hate to post a review like this, because I have had several very good meals here. I had dinner there this Thanksgiving and to say the meal was lacking is an under statement. At their price point, I expect to have my steak cooked the way I ordered it. I would like to say the service was mostly stellar from the waiter and his assistant. They made me a special drink that I requested at the bar and it was really good. Now to the food. I don't care for Turkey, so I was thrilled to find that they would have their normal menu along with a traditional Turkey dinner. This fit us well. I ordered the filet medium. The minute I touched it with my fork and my filet danced like jello on my plate, I knew it was not cooked right. I cut into it to find a almost raw (Very, Very red, cool to the touch center) I cannot eat a steak like this. My wife ordered the Turkey dinner, it came on a platter and really looked like a dumpster fire. It was all piled on top of each other, each side dish. So first the mash, then the turkey covered by stuffing and Cranberry Sauce and so on. (All I cold think of was thankfully I didn't ordered that). My wife didn't care for the appearance and would have preferred everything separated, just in case she didn't care for something. She said the Turkey was very dry and she did not like the Cranberry sauce that now smothered her food. It took a few minutes to get the waiters attention but I sent the steak back. I did hate to do that. They seared it crispy on the outside and sent it back medium rare. I just ate half of it because I wasn't going to send it back again. Of all places they should know how to cook a steak. My side dishes were very good. They should have at least comped us a nice dessert or something. Probably will choose another restaurant next time I am in town. Left very...
Read moreThis is the best steakhouse in Napa and it's not even close. You'll love the courteous staff service. The ambiance is amazing. I came during dinner time and while it was raining. So, I didn't sit outside. I took a seat at the bar. I waited for my friend Ray. Apparently everyone there knows him, so I got the VIP treatment. I started the same as I always do at a new place: Clam chowder and an old fashioned. This was a top clam chowder... EVER. I've been all over the US and to 17 countries. This was so good. The prevention was very good for a soup. The old fashioned was very tasty with the perfect amount of sweetness, but still plenty strong. I ordered a poke salad (which isnt on the menu), along with a Rose wine. I dont care whats in season or not, I just love a good crisp Rose and this one was absolutely marvelous. The pour size was average. This poke salad is something of legend apparently. They only serve it when there's fresh ingredients. So dont be disappointed if they dont have it upon your visit. It was dark, so the pictures didnt do it justice. Finally, I had the duck confit flatbread: Caramelized Onion Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese Red D'Anjou Pear. This was a masterpiece of flavors in your mouth. I couldn't even finish it. I could tell it came from a wood fired oven and personally turned by the executive chef Marcos. He came out to our bar area to check on us. This is an amazing hidden gem just 7 minutes from Downtown Napa. It's the kind of place that should be in the Michelin guide.
Parking - 5/5 time to be served - 5/5 time to be acknowledged - 5/5 quality - 5/5 return value - 5/5
