We went there last week to celebrate our marriage anniversary. We have liked their catered food in past and wanted to experience again however at the restaurant. Our first impression as soon as we walked in was that there was no one available at the front desk to talk to get a table. Then shortly after , a young girl came to ask how many people we were & after we said the number, she just walked away in order to look for a table. Just to give positive feedback, we would’ve appreciated her communicating that she was going to find a table for us and we should wait. So we didn’t understand whether we should wait or not. We understood that she’s walking back-and-forth and she must be looking for a table for us. Then she came to call but looks like the staff members need proper training how to greet people. Environment was crowded, it is a small place compared to many other restaurants. We didn’t really mind that as long as the experience was good. Then we were seated . We asked for a highchair which we were provided with. Then no one came for at least 15 minutes. We had to call another worker to ask and then the girl helper came asking for the orders. She took the orders, seemed like a young girl coming directly from India who doesn’t know the culture here and Customer Service. But to mention, She didn’t use any wrong words it was more about not being welcoming. Now it was about another 15 minutes since we had ordered food so we had to call her again asking for papad and some water. Looks like it is a routine for them to get water bottles as soon as someone is seated however we were not provided with any. I just accepted that they’re busy. Then we were provided with water but no papad. Food was taking a long time to be prepared and my kids were hungry so we asked for papad again. There’s another gentleman who works there who was nice enough to bring us extra papad so my kids could start eating. Finally the food came which was nice and hot and we were hungry so we enjoyed the taste. No one comes to check on you if you need anything or everything is going OK until you call them when you need something. Then I later I realized that Lassi was missing from our order which was actually complementary with amritsari kunchala. The girl who is young enough and has no experience in customer service ex claimed that you have lassi on your table. Instead she could’ve asked about the lassi if we ordered separately. I informed her that I ordered lassi separately and the one which was complementary with my food never came . She did apologize but her body language was stern, and angrily she said that we are very busy in the kitchen . After we were done eating she came with the check and repeated the order making sure that everything was all right, and then offered to see the screen of order as well , that sounds rude to me although she was probably showing that she is being very good about her work. When we were leaving, there was no thank your smile and just a stare on our face that she gave. I also heard her complaining about other customer as well before we were seated. I feel that staff members need to be trained well specially about Customer Service and how they should behave professionally. We likely will never come back to...
Read moreThis is Truly Indian Cuisine , note we are a older american couple, we just recently went to a vegaterian diet, and decided on this place, we walked in and were very pleased with the darkened atmosphere, mood light, and very nice indian music most people in there were Indian, and all the staff was from india. I say this because this is NOT fast food this is a very classy place with alot of heart, a genius idea to have water bottles instead of cups, i loved that, ((less dishes)). the server SriKanth was supurb, he was patient as we ordered and looked over the menu and was in no way pushy but suggestive.
the order : Tomato Soup: maybe the best me and wife ever has boasting with flavor. Hakka Noodles: noted the flavor and cilantro very similiar to chineese noodles or a little thicker than angel hair pasta in a indian sauce - again mouthwatering. Papro Chat. this was the apatizer and it with excellent with the chickpeas and crackers with that special darker sauce to spice it up in a different way. and the Paneer butter marsala ((garlic)) was Very spicy but I loved it... excellent flavor..
Prices: for this type of Restraunt all of this for 50.00 I would say well worth it. Ambiance: the music, we notice to make us feel at home they put some beautiful jazz on , little did they know i play saxophone.. perfect we know it was for us, because as we were leaving they immediately put back the indian music, believe it or not this shows much love and alot of class.
was their anything i didnt like? wee one thing any indian place i have been too usualy will give at least 1 sometimes 2 nunn with the marsala, that said none came with it, at 4.00 for one nunn I thought was a little price advantage.
in the end we were Very satisfied this is a most beautifull place with beautifull people everyone was friendly and you could see they welcomed us greatly... People check out shimla peppers it was 5 stars!!!
2nd time I have to drop to 4 stars we decided to eat light, and the server 3 times asked me to order more , even after i explained to him we are saving money. it wasnt the same experience annying music this time as well.. i love ethnic music but this was just bad,... we will go back and...
Read moreWe hired this restaurant for two events--a bridal shower and an Indian wedding. Just to be clear, we also went through 4 food tastings with this restaurant to ensure that our menu was understood by all parties and everyone was on the same page. For the bridal shower, the food quality was not the quality served in the restaurant. I understand that food made in bulk will not have the same taste as that done in small portions but many of our dishes did not have enough pieces of chicken or paneer for the guests. We brought up this issue up and were told "not to worry" about the issue for the wedding. Naively, we believed the owner. For the wedding not only was he unprofessional with the hotel staff and coordinator teams but he also did not serve what was discussed on the menu nor how it was supposed to be setup. We for instance requested a live tava station and live chefs to cook for guests. He instead took the money for the chefs and decided to serve a buffet. He furthermore left within 1.5 hrs during this event which caused other people to have to clean up for him. The changes to the setup and food were also not discussed with us and we found out at the function that what we ordered and discussed many times was not done. We also ordered food based on the dietary restrictions of our guests and the restaurant owner decided he knew best and only provided one food option for those with restrictions. Finally, when we went to pay the bill, he did not take responsibility for his mistakes, argued that apparently the hotel (which took payment for each guest) and our RSVP list underestimated our guests and blamed others for his unprofessionalism. With as much planning and stress that goes into planning these events, you do not need the added stress of someone who does not respect nor recognize his mistakes and thinks he knows better than the person ordering and paying for said food. It was disappointing that my family had to deal with his unprofessional behavior during our wedding festivities instead of enjoying our own event. Hire him if you want for small event but be ware and I would surely not recommend this restaurant for big Indian weddings. The food quality is fine but not worth the headache...
