China Inn — Restaurant in Nashville

Late night stop on our way to St.Louis, we were probably the last customers of the night, except for a few carry outs. It's a hidden gem of downtown, we almost did not come in since it looked closed from the outside, the entrance is actually inside the building from the hallway on the right! We were looking forward to the buffet style dining, unfortunately have not realized it was not served that late. We still enjoyed our dinner, freshly made, very delicious, with generous portions to share. Egg foo young was very delicious and crispy, have never tasted one like this, highly recommend! The food wasn't that good. I ordered the chow main combination and my husband ordered just chow main by it self. It had a very bad burnt taste and the rice was yellow, the rice wouldn't break up in my mouth. It wasn't hard it was just squishy and rubbery to eat. Also the rice had a grease burnt flavor and almost threw up. After a few more bites the burnt taste started to get stronger. I had to drink all my lemonade to get rid of the taste, by the time i finished my drink I did not want anymore of the food. My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant several times and brought friends with us many times. Everything we have ordered has always been excellent. We often times order a 4-Seasons combination plate (the main dish has shrimp, beef, pork and chicken and lots of vegetables) with a garlic sauce. It comes with fried rice and an egg roll. We order an extra egg roll and there is literally enough food for each of us to have two meals. When we eat at home, we obviously have leftovers!
