Mexicali Cantina Grill — Restaurant in Natick

They forgot ingredients in the first order. We complained and the manager gave us a gift card. It wasn't really good, at all. Ok... stuff happens. Maybe it's cos they messed up the order?

A few weeks later we used said giftcard to order by phone again and we're told it'll be ready in 20 minutes. Go to pick it up, the order wasn't in the computer. A man (apparently the manager?) came out and told us it'd be two minutes. 20-25 minutes later it was in our hand. Cos, guess what? Yup, the order wasn't actually there (obviously) and the manager lied. This was followed by me simultaneously tipping the waitstaff (who was very helpful and also dealing with their BS) and reprimanding the manager (he thought I was complimenting him, I think).

All this could've been remedied by good food, but the food is more artificial than Taco Bell. It's definitely "bar food" level. The more margaritas you drink the better it tastes. If you've ever had actual Mexican food, this isn't it. This is just another suburban version of what I like to call Fakesican. The tortillas are low quality, the chicken is hidden in flavored spices (artificial smoked taste) and overcooked, the rice is odd (maybe seasoned with Sazon). It most likely contains MSG. Therefore, it's legitimate Fakesican food but this ain't no real Mexican!

You want Mexican food this is the place but the service is the weakest link...we were there 2 times and the first time gave us a big lovely serprised that we love love loved the food so much we went back with even bigger crowd yet the service stopped us from going there again. We ordered soup and Pescado Frito Whole red snapper or tilapia; Tilapia: 21 | Red Snapper: 25 and we all made sure we wanted Red Snappers, the server confirmed our order yet ˇminutes later, all 6 plates of Tilapia!!!! We asked the server to ask her why? She went: that's what you ordered! We said no, we ordered Red Snappers, 6 of them! We didn't touch them but if she made the mistake we want our correct orders, that's why we came for. Then 10 minutes later she came back and said, Kitchen said they only have Tilapia today ( shouldn't you tell us that when we ordered 6 red snappers?) No apology so we had to eat it but we needed her to correct the price: not charging us Tilapia($21) for Red Snappers price($26) She got mad and went back to her station then never came back to serve us until we asked for the check...lady, it's not our fault! However, QUESADILLAS, fajita and Sopa de Mariscos seafood soup are dynamite! I wish I could have one more...

This place has decent food and drinks, there was always plenty of food and chips. They were really great the first few times we went in. The last visit was very bad service from our server. She didnt listen to what drinks we ordered, and had to come back to my table to ask what we had asked for. When the drinks came one was still wrong and we had to send it back. We got our food and that was good, we had ordered guacamole and they never brought more chips to our table, the waitress disappeared and never came back to check on our table. After waiting 45 mins (yes I started to time her) she still hadnt returned andnwe had to ask the bus boy to get us a box and to get us our check. After doing this the waitress srill had not returned to our table and we left without seeing her again. This was unbelievable and has never happened before.
