Without any doubt, 5 out of 5 stars 🍕!
I recently had one of the most, if not the most, delicious pizzas in my life at Pizza By Rocco in Natick, Mass. Even though it may be considered a hidden gem, I doubt it will be considered a hidden gem for much longer as more and more people hear about it and try the food out for themselves!
Each time I have introduced a friend to Rocco's, every single one of them has said that this is some of the best pizza they've ever had.
The crust has that sweet thin crispy taste, and is cooked to perfection. The sauce always has just the right amount and also has a great taste. The toppings are always fresh, more than generous with the amount given, and expertly balanced. In fact, the pizzas and all of the food items in general are more than generous in terms of how much you're getting. In terms of ambiance, although the store is small it still has an inviting and cozy feel to it, and offers some seating outside. Last but certainly not least, the service is no doubt top shelf service. Everyone here is very friendly, attentive, and lightning-fast with their food preparation. Carol, who takes the orders, legitimately sets the very warm and welcoming tone right away with her effortless affability and enthusiastic aura and smile. Red, the pizza/food maker, is a master at his craft and is very personable too. As one can tell simply by the quality of the food, it is clear to see that Red takes his work seriously and is proficient at his job. All of the people who prepare the food here put their strongest efforts into the process; this is food that is made from a place of sincere love!
Rocco himself is at the shop quite often and he goes above and beyond with regards to looking out for his customers. This aspect was something that truly stood out to me about this place and sets Pizza By Rocco above all the rest for me personally. For example, Rocco is very genuine, and is an incredibly generous person and that generosity spills over into his work. His genuine personality is noticeable right away when you meet him. If a customer has any issue with anything, he makes sure to do whatever it takes to ensure said customer is taken care of and leaves the shop happy and satisfied. Not every store owner makes it a point to do things like that. It just goes to show that Rocco and his fellow workers really care about their customers, which is probably why the store has so many repeat and loyal customers.
The menu has your usual favorites/go-to items, but also has some fun and creative specialty options as well. The Buffalo Chicken thin crust pizza is extremely popular and a must try favorite! One of the specialty options that made a great impression on me was the "Typical Johnny," which can best be described as literally a "Big Mac" on a pizza. The only difference is that the Typical Johnny is even better and tastier than an actual Big Mac!
I cannot stress enough how much I recommend Pizza by Rocco for all the pizza lovers out there, and for those who like to support local businesses. I had such a great experience there that I have been back a bunch of times since my first visit. If you come here to try it out, I can guarantee you that you will be coming back for more. It is just that good!
Thank you very much Pizza By Rocco for providing me with such a wonderful and extraordinary experience each time I come to your shop! This place is easily one of my favorite places to go. There really is no better pizza around. Keep up the...
Read morePizza is decent -- we've had better in the local area and we've had worse. However, I give this place two stars (revised to three) it's impossible to pick up your pizza. They have no parking and they don't tell you when you order for pick up that they have no parking. I had to pull into an office park and call them and then they tell you to park in the bank next door. However that lot is completely full because there is another restaurant that uses it as well. I had to park in the mechanic's lot next door and luckily they were closed so I could do that. However they have not cleared any of their sidewalks or the porch into their front door and it was covered in a solid sheet of ice. Delivery is an option, but only if you spend $50 on food and then they still charge a $5 delivery fee. To be clear, there is room to pull into the back of the restaurant but they clearly don't want you using that because they have a car parked in the driveway so you can't get there. 100% inconvenient. If you are in walking distance, it might be worth it. Otherwise, don't bother. Update: The owner kindly called me to follow up on my review. He said there is parking (albeit limited and hard to access) and did not know why his employees said there was no parking. There is a lower delivery minimum but there are two ways to order online and the catering menu has the $50 minimum and is very confusing on a smart phone -- it's much easier to navigate to that rather than the regular online ordering, so be sure to sure you are on the correct online ordering system. Parking is still a major hassle but since we can order with a lower minimum,...
Read moreEXCEPTIONAL! We ordered a Sicilian (half cheese — half chicken parm) and are incredibly impressed. The crust is thick and doughy with exactly the right amount of crisp on the outside. It has lots of delicious chicken on the parm half with layers of cheese above and below, and the bottom crust is so substantial it holds its shape with no flopping. (The freshly shaved parmesan on top is an awesome touch — not something you’d typically expect from a neighborhood pizza shop)
My husband said it was just as tasty a few hours later cold for dinner, and this family of three is enjoying it fresh out of the oven reheated for lunch a day later. (It’s a BIG pizza!)
The biggest compliment has to be from our seven year old who has literally enjoyed pizza (only cheese - always) from ONE Natick joint for his entire life.
He has declared Pizza by Rocco his “new #1” — and we all agree!
*Edited to add: the customer service was top notch & so friendly! The young man who took my order on the phone double-checked with the chef about a special request; everyone was masked & distance reminders were posted; they apologized when my order wasn’t ready when I walked in (I was very early!); the chef chatted with me about ingredients and was genuinely excited about the food he was creating; and the woman behind the counter offered to bring my pizza to my car so I wouldn’t need to bring my small son in. Not going to lie... we may bail on cooking again tonight and try out Rocco’s subs or...
