Unfortunately this restaurant has not impressed me and I would call it mediocre. As much as I don’t want to say it, I wouldn’t recommend it if you are wanting authentic Chinese food. I moved nearby and was hoping it was going to become a staple. I’ve been twice and both times were a let down. They serve 2 cuisines as the name implies instead of focusing on one and I think suffers from this. The Sushi is a little better than their Chinese food. The sushi is okay, but not great. I had the Alaskan Maki and the rice starting to fall off and it was not tightly wrapped. The crab rangoons were okay, but came with a sauce that was not good. It was not a sweet and sour which you typically get, but was a white sauce that was overly sweet with not much flavor. The Beef with Eggplant in Garlic Sauce had a basic sauce that tasted like it could have been from a bottle. The Szechuan Style Bean Curd in Spicy Sauce wasn’t very good. The waitress told me it was similar to mapo tofu (which I love) which it didn’t taste anything like. It had a really strange flavor that is hard to describe. The shrimp in the dried sauteed shrimp was good but not very spicy and the crispy rice it came on was interesting and had a texture similar to packing peanuts. It could have used a sauce or something else added to it because it was very dry. Overall, the food seems tailored to an American audience and wasn’t very flavorful. If you are wanting authentic Chinese food nearby I would recommend Shaanxi Gourmet or Sichuan Gourmet. If you want Sushi, it’s okay, but it wasn't the highest quality.

Place looks nice and clean and the staff is friendly but unfortunately they didn't do dine in when I came in. I got some steamed shrimp shumai and ate it at the Town Common across the street. These are not half bad, but I'm pretty sure these are the Ajinomoto brand frozen seafood shumai that you can get at an Asian market. I asked if they make these in house I'll of they were frozen before ordering and the guy said that he has someone make them for them, not revealing that they come in frozen. They have them over at Formosa Market right there I've had them before. The dipping sauce that comes with these is alright too albeit too sweet. I'll try again another day this was kind of a wiff.

Last minute decision to drop in and so glad we did. Parking can be an issue, but plenty of street parking around the corner. Also you will get to walk off all the food that you eat in this place. Tables are cramped and the plates come loaded so don't over order. Every dish we have had, has been good, not over sauced or over fried, quite tasty. We we're there on a quiet night, so service was good. It's not a place to bring a date, but great for a casual bite.

Went to Shanghai Tokyo Went in at 2.45 pm Ordered large soup and egg roll They brought two very small soups My friend ordered a lunch special and I ordered sushi The waitress said specials are over it is past 3 I said but we started at 2.45 The so called manager came over Chinese man with long hair and told us we can not order lunch special It is past 3pm. But I said we started at 2.45 to late he said .My guest ordered chicken with cashew no vegetables instead of the luncheon again a foolish discussion waitress said if you do order with out vegetables won’t get much chicken 🫤I said the menu says chicken cashews not chicken cashew and veggies! Again the Chinese man with long hair comes and tells us if you do not take vegetables then you will have to pay double otherwise I will get fired ..He would have to fire himself as we know he is the owner YOU CAN T MAKE THIS STORY UP My quest said let’s go ! So we called another restaurant and ordered with no issue . I am giving my opinion only DONT GO TO SHANGHAI TOKYO Imagine what they do or do not do to the food to make it CHEAPER and tasty I have had Chinese food all over the world .WORST Experience EVER Here in my backyard ! I will never go back I hope you don’t get cheated either STAY AWAY They have a website Shanghai Testimonials ….With all great reviews The only problem is it’s there own website and there is no way I can figure out how to write a review . No sure but I think they put on the review...

I’m super disappointed to even be writing this… my friends and I have come here about 4 times, last week being the most recent. The food is absolutely incredible which is why I’m sad I have to write this. The service we received today from a woman named Helen was atrocious. First I’d like to say it’s the CUSTOMERS choice on when to tip and how much. I always tip at least 15%, however people still have the choice. How well you do and how you treat me as a customer does go into account when calculating a tip. First we asked for split checks, which was apparently an issue but she did it for us anyways. We were writing in our tips and she stood OVER our tables telling us to change it to 20%. We did not. 15% seemed fair! She stood there waiting for over a minute as we just stared at each other in disbelief. She then proceeded to tell us if we weren’t going to tip enough to not come and sit down as customers again and to only do take out. We immediately left but to say the least, it was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. I will not be eating here again for that sole reason, which is very disappointing considering how great the food was....
