An Unforgettable Experience at Talus

From the moment my parents introduced me to Talus for their happy hour cocktails and appetizers, I knew I had found something special. Everything we tried that night was absolutely amazing, with the Ponzu Steak Stacks standing out as a clear favorite among the appetizers. The flavors were incredibly fresh, and the presentation was top-notch.

The thing that truly sets Talus apart is the staff’s knowledge and passion for what they do. Our waiter was not only friendly but extremely knowledgeable about their cocktail offerings, which added to the overall experience. We kept coming back over time, and with each new dish—whether it was the Argentinian pulled pork, salmon salad, or Himalayan steak—our love for the restaurant only grew. Every single item we tried was fantastic.

It didn’t take long for my fiancé and me to decide that Talus would be the perfect venue for our wedding reception. When we reached out to Aron, the process was seamless. We were able to reserve the entire space on a Sunday, a day when they are normally closed. Aron worked with us to create a custom menu using dishes we already loved, and with his help, we tailored the options to fit our specific tastes.

One of the most thoughtful touches was that I cannot have dairy, and Talus went out of their way to ensure that all of my dishes were completely dairy-free. It was such a relief to know that I could enjoy every bite without worrying about my dietary restrictions.

The atmosphere was magical. We hosted our cocktail hour on the beautiful outdoor patio, followed by a sit-down dinner and buffet in the dining area, and a lively dance party in their dedicated event space. The team had a bar set up outside and inside, and we collaborated with them on a custom drink menu that perfectly complemented the evening.

On the big day, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They helped us decorate the space ahead of time, set up our candle decor, and even brought food to our head table. Throughout the evening, they kept checking in to make sure my husband and I were well taken care of, offering us refills and making sure we ate!

The compliments from our guests were endless. People kept telling us, “This is the best food I’ve ever had. Not just the best wedding food, but the best food ever.” The party room turned out to be the perfect setting for our celebration, and Aron made sure everyone had an amazing time.

Fast forward a few months, and Talus was once again the special place where my husband and I shared the exciting news with my parents that we were pregnant. It’s incredible how Talus has been woven into so many important moments in our lives. Most recently, we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple there, and once again, they went above and beyond. Since I couldn’t have alcohol due to being pregnant, the staff handcrafted delicious mocktails, making sure I didn’t miss out on...

We wanted to love this place because Papillion desperately needs more good restaurant options besides Ollie & Hobbes, but they had too many misses for more than 3 stars at this point.

The restaurant was beautiful. Host was very nice. Surprised they didn’t have booster seats for our toddler. Their flimsy paper menus that were worn down surprised us. The only extra napkins they had were tiny beverage napkins. So just a few little, easily fixable things there.

Our biggest issue was that we had to ask for everything. There was no anticipating our needs by the server. We had a party of 7 and when the two appetizers were brought out, they didn’t include any plates. We sat there staring at the apps for a few minutes before finally getting up to ask someone. When the food finally came out, we had to ask for ketchup to go with the fries (4 different meals came with fries). We had to ask for salt and pepper. We had to ask for drink refills. We had to ask for more napkins. We had to ask for boxes and the check. You get the picture…

We were there for a good two hours; it took that long to order, get the food, get checked out. And this was only a Wednesday evening.

The food was pretty good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Was it amazing? Wouldn’t go that far. Probably slightly overpriced for what you get considering the slow service. Would appreciate happy hour or specials that they said they were “working on.”

The food was good enough to go back and try it again after some time passes and they can work out the kinks. Or train their servers better. I will come back and update the review, hopefully with a 5-star experience, when...

Some friends were moving out of town and we wanted to talk them out for a special dinner to say our goodbyes. None of us had been to Talus and it and been on my list of places to go for awhile.

We arrived 20 mins before our reservation and were able to get a table out on their patio. If the weather supports it, I’d highly suggest the patio, as the view is beautiful and they have heaters for the chilly days/nights.

The group ordered the Cranberry Mules and Smoked Old Fashion. Both were very flavorful and a second round was ordered shortly after.

We started with their Crispy Brussels Sprouts (forgot to get a picture). They were nice and crispy and the cheese and balsamic vinegar gave them a nice added flavor. Plenty for the four of us to start the meal.

For the main course, my wife and my friend’s wife ordered the Mt. Fuji Mushroom Risotto. It was very flavorful and the Fried Pork Belly add a great touch. My friend ordered the Seafood Risotto, it was just as flavorful and had plenty of seafood in it. My favorite between the two was the Mt Fuji Mushroom Risotto and I would highly recommend this for any first time visitors.

I ordered the Talus Meatloaf, and it was probably the best meatloaf I’ve ever had. It was super moist, yet had a nice crispy edge to it. The chipotle demi sauce added a great flavor profile to the meal as well.

For desert, we ordered the Old Fashion Bread Pudding, it was amazing as well and there was plenty for all 4 of us to satisfy our sweet tooth.

Overall, I’d give Talus a 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be back...
