My husband and i had the pleasure of dining here about a week ago. It was right before the church rush, so the dining room was fairly empty. We are creatures of habit so we of course sat at the bar.
First off, let me tell you about the seats at the bar. I hate it when we sit down and the seat part is too short so I feel like I'm constantly sliding off. Or the foot rest is just a touch too far down, so my feet dangle like a kid. These stools were the perfect size! They were perfect for my 5'7" frame but also extremely comfortable for my 6' husband. The bar top was deep enough to fit my legs under while i ate so i didnt have to angle my legs. The bar height was not too high but not so short that I had to hunch over. The combination was so inviting and comfortable that you could easily spend a few hours there and honestly not even notice.
Our bartender was Melissa. She was super professional and very helpful. I will admit: my husband and I are needy. Not to say that we are difficult customers, we just have a bad habit of not stating everything we need at once. She never once batted an eye or was cross in anyway. She has a great personality and just gained two more regulars.
We had the house margaritas on the rocks with an extra shot. After my second one, I had to make sure to order an extra taco, if you know what i mean. Our food came out quickly and hot. The salsa is delicious.
There were two things that put this place at a slight disadvantage: the chips were on the thin side and not salty enough and the tiles in the bathroom were slick to the point where you can slide across them without picking your...
Read moreCame in today to give this place another shot, and once again disappointed. We were waited upon and served in a timely manor, but the food just isn’t it. We ordered nachos supreme and birria enchiladas, they looked decent, and the enchiladas were better than the nachos. But our waitress was also rude. She was far too distracted talking to her friends and playing on her phone while we waited to get the ticket. This fortunately is our last trip here. El Viejo Tony will be our place permanently now.
Husband and i went after work one day to try their food, and i was unimpressed to say the least. You can tell this is a restaurant that focuses solely on their alcohol drinking customers. We waited 30 minutes to get our drink order taken, another 15 to get the drinks and our order taken, and then another 30 for our food to get brought out. While waiting, we watched people at the bar and at other tables getting constant refills of their alcoholic drinks, and even getting their food before us, and we were there before them. My husband said his food was okay, but mine was over cooked. I personally won’t be back due to lack of service and...
Read moreThe restaurant has very good decor and is fairly clean. Our services was good. The waitress was helpful and explained the menu very items very well.
However, let's get to why just 2 stars. We went with high expectations due to the excellent reviews we saw but upon tasting the food we began to wonder were was the good food or the taste. The guacamole yes was fresh and on point but the rest was bland and in desperate need of seasoning.
Maybe the cook forgot were the seasoning shelf was. My wife had nachos and asked for queso that looked like yesterday's reheated leftover cheese. Not impressed.
Needless to say we will not return here. There are better restaurants for authentic...
