Iron Town Pasties — Restaurant in Negaunee

We planned our trip from Ohio to Minnesota specifically to come here because of my father-in-law's gluten intolerance. After hours of driving we came in hungry and they unsympathetically pointed to a sign indicating they need an hour's notice to prepare the frozen gluten free pasties. Very disappointing. Nobody said sorry or offered any solutions. So he went without. We did not account for this in our planning because it is not listed anywhere on the website. The only item requiring an hour notice on the website is the vegan spicy pasty. I also waited at the ice cream counter for someone to help me for several minutes. Nobody came. A couple walked in the door and waited behind me and they were immediately addressed and asked what they wanted. They indicated ice cream and practically bumped me out of the way, so I decided I would go without. All around terrible service...next time we will eat fast food...at least we know what to...

I went there on a trip with my family, stopping there because they advertised gluten free pasties. I have to have GFree. I find out that I have to call ahead for them to give them notice and they are all frozen. The rest of the family are while I watched. They weren't impressed either, referring to them as "nastie pasties." We thought we would try something uniquely Michigan while passing through, but after that experience, Michigan can keep them. They need to let people know about the order ahead deal for the GFree ones too, but on second thought, it did save me from having to choke them down like my hungry family did. We can't even say the people were nice because they just starred at us and did ask to help or offer any advice, suggestions, etc. Not helpful or friendly and we walked in excited to try it. Yes it’s true - Iron Town has gluten-free pasties! Like others, we were stopped at the light and my wife saw the sign in front saying Iron Town has gluten-friendly options. We immediately stopped, were greeted by a team member who gave us the full rundown on their GF options. We’ve never been able to have pasties thanks to our gluten issues so choosing a pastie was new to us. I chose the Spicy Jalapeño and my wife got the Traditional Beef. Took them back to our campground and warmed them in the trailer oven (the GF pasties are half-baked and frozen) and after an hour at 350 degrees we enjoyed excellent dinners. The fillings are delicious and the dough thickness is perfect at least to these pastie rookies. We’re going back for some GF turnovers for sure. Highly...
