We were in town for a baby shower that sadly didn’t provide dinner for us, down from New York City. Excited to try a small, local non-chain restaurant for a Saturday night date.
I have traveled the world. Eaten in 5 star restaurants and have had road side street food in developing countries. I’ve eaten fish straight from the ocean in Cuba and had a 17 course meal at Blanca in Brooklyn. I love food, I love good food and restaurant culture. My partner and I have both worked in the service industry (I run a small customer service based business and my partner has done tech support- we value servers, are friendly and tip well for great service).
This was absolutely by far the worst treatment I’ve ever received from any establishment.
My partner and I waited an average amount of time to get menus, drinks. We were brought some bread and utensils after a few minutes. We both went to the restroom. We ordered an appetizer after about 20 minutes. Drink refills came and I had to ask for a drink refill- our waitress asked my partner but not me, despite our empty cups placed next to each other.
Appetizer came about 15 minutes later.
We waited in total an hour for our food. It got so embarrassing and ridiculous that we just decided to sit and wait until someone acknowledged us. Our waitress walked by multiple times- went back to the front of house and chatted with her friend. Walked back and forth but didn’t come anywhere near our table. I finally flagged down another server.
Incredibly embarrassing. We explained that waiting over an hour for food was not acceptable and we’d like to cancel our order. She tried to capitulate and say that it was “coming out” but we insisted. She went back to the kitchen and said that the kitchen would “give us a discount” if we decided to stay. I said No repeatedly.
I asked the waitress sarcastically if she could recommend a different place to eat and she actually recommended Chili’s! “Oh, I’m on the spot!”
Other patrons overhead our conversation- she stood next to our table for five minutes talking to us about other restaurants we could go to.
Fairly certain our waitress tonight is a sociopath. She asked, “you’re not from here? How far do you feel like driving?” I explained that this was our Saturday night meal during the drive back to the city and she said, “what kind of food do you want to eat?”
I just laughed.
We both sat for another 10 minutes waiting for our check and another 5 for her to come back and get my credit card- which is an Amex. I will be cancelling the charge immediately after it posts.
She actually took my credit card and charged us for the full amount for 4 drinks (hot chocolate, 2 coca-colas and our only food for the evening- peroggis.) which was also astonishing.
For the front of house- it was table #18 at...
Read moreJust had lunch with a friend at polos. Food was fine except for the cheese curds. We tried a couple of them each and my friend who’s been there many times said something tasted off about them so we asked to send them back. Waitress was super nice and brought them back to the kitchen for us. Then shortly after came back out with the same plate saying that the owner tried some and they were fine and that we ate half of them so we still had to pay. We asked to speak to the owner and when she came out, she said that she did try some off of our plate and so did “all the chefs in the kitchen” then sent that same plate back out which to me was a wild thing to do/admit to and is so disgusting. Also would probably be why the plate looked light after that?? She did end up begrudgingly taking them off the bill after we spoke with her but her overall attitude and having her hands along with the kitchen staff in food that she planned on sending back to us was unacceptable…
Editing to respond to the owners snarky comment back. You have your timeline wrong. When our waitress came around we sent them back and only AFTER you sent the same plate back to us was when we asked for the check, and to speak to you. We were not full. We would have stayed longer as we still had full drinks and more food to eat, but because of your horrible attitude and service, we wanted to leave. Your comment back to me and other negative reviews speaks volumes to how you treat patrons.
Editing my review again because you are still LYING. We asked for the check AFTER you sent us back a dirty plate that your hands had been in. If you so carefully reviewed the footage you would have seen that. I’ve made sure all my friends and family know how rude the owner of this place is. Why are you not commenting on how unsanitary and disgusting it was to try to give us back a plate that multiple hands in the kitchen touched expecting us to keep eating it? It’s beyond me. Nasty place...
