BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!!!! Where do I even begin? I'm HIGHLY disappointed and VERY unsatisfied. I've only eaten from this restaurant ONE time and sadly it WILL BE MY LAST! My co-worker orders an omelette similar to a veggie style. Upon taking her first two bites, her throats instantly swells, she's having difficulty speaking and breathing. At this point it's a total of 4 individuals and we're unsure of what's exactly occurring. I immediately take a look at her food and see that it's mushrooms; she's having an allergic reaction! We're in a panic because there is no epinen on job site and at this point she is now throwing up. I call my boyfriend who recently left the office and ask him to turn around because we're going to need him to transport to Spring Valley Hospital. Luckily, another coworker of ours has Benadryl in their car. She takes two benadryls and at this point has to go home.
When we call the restaurant to bring to their attention what is CURRENTLY occurring, they instantly send the driver back. Now before this horrific experience occurred we placed an order with Beach Cafe at 9:13 AM and DID NOT receive our food until WELL after 11:30AM. We wanted to cancel our meals to be honest because at this point we had waited 2 hours for our food. Come to find out, the delivery driver doesn't come in until 11:00 A.M. (To this day I'm only assuming this is why our food was late, it was never addressed by Beach Cafe, for the delay). Moving forward, the driver comes and apologies for the company and takes the food back. My friend who suffered the allergic reaction requested that she atleast get a refund (which sounds fair seeing how NOT only did she have mushrooms included in an order she did NOT REQUEST and the fact that THEY TOOK THE FOOD BACK). Given the situation, the two hours it took to receive our food, and what had just occurred we ALL were disgusted and had absolutely NO APPETITE. They could at least comp the entire ticket you would think.
INSTEAD they don't follow up with the customer to make sure she made it through the day (mind you the reaction was so serve she was sent home and had to seek additional care) or weekend. They haven't processed her refund and HAS the nerve to contact her employer to discuss their DISSATISFACTION with her. Overall, I'm completely flabbergasted by this company's policies. The employee said the order didnt come in on his end, but I had the email confirmation and my money was taken out my account. I pre-tipped, which was my mistake. I showed the employee my order on my phone, with the notes saying no sausage I dont eat meat, (which is the only meat that the online menu says it includes.) The employee called his boss to make sure he was good to make the order for me since it wasn't showing up for him. I verbally repeated no sausage multiple times, and showed the employee my order with the note of no meat multiple times. I get home and there's bacon in my food. I called to address my issue and the gentlemen said "You said no sausage." And my response was "is it supposed to come with both?" and he told me yes. I double checked the website menu and it clearly states it only comes with sausage. I never requested bacon or asked it as a replacement. I wasn't offered a refund, or a chance for them to fix or remake it. Just got "sorry, next time I'll remember you dont eat meat!" I'm sorry what? I spent money here and couldn't even eat my food or pick out the meat because it was COVERED in meat. It's super discouraging to take extra precautions to request no sausage and not even get offered a resolution. There was no manager on duty and it was super unprofessional and I was being nice to the employee even when my order wasn't ready/visible to him and was super patient, even though I waited PAST my order time because I understand things happen. But to be gaslit and not offered any refund or a fix to the issue is super disappointing, to lie to me and tell me there's supposed to be bacon in there, when I never once asked for it and its not stated anywhere on the menu for the quesadilla to include both meats is insane to me. I wish there was a manager on duty to help me resolve this issue, but there wasn't one and it left me super upset and disregarded. I want a refund and dont even know how to contact a manger, because I dont want to call and get the same guy who disregarded my specific and ONLY request of no meat. Read moreThe Beach Cafe, what can I say? I had high hopes for this restaurant and wanted to love it. Let me begin by commending the staff, who were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They started off by informing us that the fountain drink machine was out of order, but they were offering half off on smoothies instead. I decided to try their Lava Flow Smoothie, and it was definitely worth it. Additionally, their passion fruit tea was outstanding.
For lunch, I opted for the Loco Moco, and I have some thoughts on it. The rice was just okay, either undercooked or left sitting for too long. However, the hamburger was well seasoned and tasted good. The gravy, although a bit thicker than I prefer, had a pleasant flavor and was mixed well. It reminded me of a beef gravy mix, but prepared correctly. The over medium eggs I ordered on top were possibly the best I've ever had. They were perfectly cooked, with a runny yolk that wasn't too runny.
Unfortunately, some of the other members in my party were disappointed with their orders. One person ordered the shrimp basket and found the cocktail sauce to be frozen hard in the middle. They also felt that the shrimp tasted like it had been frozen and then recooked. While I couldn't personally verify this, I thought it was important to include their feedback in my review.
Despite feeling let down by the Loco Moco, I did finish my meal. I still have hope for the Beach Cafe and will definitely return to try other items on their menu. Overall, the staff was pleasant, and the Lava Flow Smoothie and passion fruit tea were highlights of...
