Alright I will admit that at first I thought this was gonna be like a bodega that sold cigarettes and stuff like that. Not a big deal that it's just a sandwich shop. You could always use some affordable food in the area, and this place is right across the street, so I tried to keep an open mind and support the place. Except nothing on the menu is affordable. And the portions are TINY! First time I went I ordered a bacon pork roll egg and cheese with salt, pepper, and ketchup. You can get this for like 3 bucks and change at Krauszers, 4.75 on an everything bagel. Here it's $5.99 on a roll, they didn't put salt, pepper, or ketchup on it, there was a ton of egg and TWO SLICES of pork roll, and.... get this..... my bacon came on the SIDE! In an entire to-go container for 4 strips of bacon.
Next time I ordered, I ordered a buffalo chicken cheese steak since the cheese steaks come with fries. This is pretty pricey despite the deal. about 8 bucks for it. They called me back twice because I guess the idea of a buffalo chicken cheese steak was confusing? Whatever, not a big deal, it's not on their menu. Anyway, the chicken was piled on so lightly that you could see the bread through it. There were literally 7 french fries in the container.
The guys at Joe's Liquors recommended the burrito, they said it's really good. Well, I'd love to try the burrito, but I'm a broke college kid. Why spend close to 10 bucks on a burrito when every single Mexican place on French St has $4.50 burritos?
All in all, I really tried to like the place and support them, but it's honestly kind of insulting that they think it's okay to charge so much money while skimping so much on everything. If you're gonna overcharge, at least be generous with your meats and such. The staff is really friendly and they're trying their hardest, which I would've given the place a 2-star review for..... but they are clearly leaving themselves 5 star reviews on here. Come on now, how are you going to try literally everything on the menu when the place has been open one week? And leave the same reviews with the same pictures on both Google and Yelp? That's just dishonest business.
Hope this place gets their act together, I really want to like this place. But it's...
Read moreThis is an excellent family-owned restaurant with fantastic food and friendly service. You will always be greeted immediately and with a wide smile upon walking in. I have had the sandwiches, crepes, pancakes, and omelets and every dish tastes amazing and fresh. Their orange juice is hand-squeezed fresh daily and tastes like you’re biting into a perfectly ripe orange. Their fries are lightly breaded to give a good crisp but still have a hearty potato taste. Onion rings are real and whole, not onion paste you find at a lot of nearby restaurants. Dish presentation is definitely a main focus as well. I was initially surprised when I saw their chicken parm sandwich is not on a hero/sub roll like at other places, but their panini-style take on the classic sandwich is a new favorite of mine. I will add more photos...
Read moreGreat local spot! Been here a few times and I have to say each visit was better than the next. Always great service, delicious and plentiful choices artfully presented yet served promptly. Fresh, fresh food which I love. Try the red potatoes, they’re delish! If you are into details you’ll appreciate this place; my daughter ordered a burger and I was pleasantly surprised to find it came on a roll that’s been toasted with ingredients stacked to keep the veg cool yet cheese warm. It’s easy to see that whomever is cooking must really like what they do—each plate whispers pride. Don’t fret at the size of the dining room, there’s more...
