From the beginning of when I first decided to start a lease, I had issues with Verve. To start, every person in the leasing office so everyone who helps you sign a lease, answer questions and anyone you can directly speak to is a college student. Every time I spoke to someone I was getting different information in regards to who I would be living with, what floor, what apartment number, what specific room I was in and most importantly, how much I would be paying. Every single time I spoke to someone the price was always different. There is absolutely zero communication between the people there it is ridiculous. Every time I called to speak with the manager, Kevan Williams directly, I was directed to email him and he would get back to me. Why are we not able to speak with a MANAGER over the phone or in person? Especially considering the only people we can speak with are college students??? The construction is still not completed and they do not inform us about ANYTHING. They have not updated us on the construction as things like the Gym/Tanning and parts of the lobby and other amenities are not even finished which is a big part of why a lot of us even signed for verve. What aggravated me the most was just EIGHT days before move in day, they sent me a VOICEMAIL saying they moved all of my five housemates and I around and that we won't be together anymore because they had to make room for a group of five girls that came in and all wanted to sign. So basically instead of turning down new people and allowing my housemates and I to stay together as we originally signed up for, they rather make their money than satisfy and comply to the tenants who they already have. I do not know of any apartment complex who would MOVE A FULL apartment of friends around, just because they needed to "make room" for five new girls- and did not even ask for our permission. Every time I spoke to someone at Verve because I have had to call many, many times as I always get misinformed or just under informed, they always sound extremely aggravated for someone calling, and are very short and misleading. They lie, tell you one thing over the phone so you can hear what you want to hear, then when it comes down to it they do not actually follow through with what they said. It is so incredibly poorly run and I 0/10 recommend Verve. The place from the pictures seems very nice, but the leasing office and way it is run is horrible. Its a complete scam . Also, all the five star reviews on here or anywhere are literally from...
Read moreI spent my junior and senior year at Rutgers living in this building. The physical building was great but the managers were horrible (specifically Joe and Lena, mainly Joe). They did not enforce the requirements of me/my roommates contracts with them which became a problem when it came to our safety. We had a horrible experience with a roommate who lived with us over a span of 5 months. When we clearly expressed how unsafe/scared we were living with her, nothing was done to protect us. We experienced physical violence, threats, inappropriate behavior, had our personal items destroyed/thrown away, and invasions of privacy from our roommate (going into our bedrooms and going through personal devices) and had police officers in our apartment multiple times about these issues (who were significantly more helpful/understanding about the issues). She also had disregard towards an emotional support pet that I have been prescribed by putting him in danger. My roommates and I were led to take our own safety measures such as installing cameras in our bedrooms, locking up our important items, and I personally decided to leave my cat locked in my room each day when I couldn’t be around to watch him for his own safety. We clearly communicated details of all of these instances to management and were told that they cared about our safety while doing nothing to help us out of a dangerous and traumatic situation. One of my roommates sent emails to management about what we were dealing with in our apartment (because we were told by them to feel free speaking to them about concerns/problems) and was given a snarky response from Joe where he sarcastically noted why he is not sure why we were “sending random emails” about “the play by play of the last 24 hours”. While they informed us they had space for ONE of us to delegate, there were notattempts to remove the threat from the apartment or building (she still lives there). We were told that we could all feel free to move out of the building which was upsetting because previously we had really valued our time at the Verve and it felt like an attempt from them to simply get rid of us so they didn’t have to deal with our problems. If you know and trust your roommates and will make use of the verve amenities you will have a good experience, but if you are looking to be supported if any issues come up with your living situation, I would strongly recommend looking...
Read moreREAD BEFORE CONSIDERING LIVING AT THE VERVE Where do I begin My roommates and I had no hot water for 3 and a half days and the verve employees knew this, told me to file a maintenance request , and offered no help in the meantime regardless of this being a major health violation. No one came to fix this until I called the health department. They claimed it was fixed after day 3, but it wasn’t so they had to come back and actually fix it the next day. I had to go to a hotel to shower because they wouldn’t help me or give me any temporary solutions on a place to shower. Covid is rampant in the building due due to the employees not wearing masks and them not enforcing the government mandates The employees are sophomore and junior college students who don’t understand the lease, solve any resident issues in a timely manner, or wear masks/enforce them. When you call with an issue, they usually refer you to the bookkeeper who never happens to be in the office or available They put me in a living situation where I could not let my animal out of my room, and then I had to pay 200 dollars to finally move into an apt where my animal could leave my tiny room Most of their amenities never worked in the first place. All of the water fountains on the second floor barely release any water, and they never have worked normally. There is an ice machine on the second floor. This also never worked. And the coffee machine only started working in late December. There is also a shuffleboard that has never had pieces to make it usable The single rooms are the size of a large shoebox The gym equipment is usually broken The building is usually disgusting because no one is there at night and there are tons of loud parties The only reason there are some good reviews here is because the verve is holding a gift card contest for resident who leave a review. However, all of the people who have given positive reviews are employees or people who have never lived here, so don’t be fooled. Take if from the people who got screwed over when they decided to live...
