Hilby’s Bar and Grill — Restaurant in New Castle

This place is where it’s happening. Former Scooter’s is NO MORE. Hilby’s new owners have totally cleaned, painted, new grill and updates. Awesome FRESH FOOD menu. It is so the PLACE TO GO that I even proposeded to my wife there (see video). The owners go out of their way to serve every age, every need. Best times to catch either owner (Shawn or Sara) is first of any week as to any questions, event scheduling and reservations, privater parties OR any suggestions for themes on different days... like Date Nite wednesdays or 70’s disco night or whatever. They will accomodate. Or simply call. They have Kareoke and pool and people are genuine without rif raf types. Dress is casual, come as you are. Food is outstanding and guaranteed. They STAND BEHIND EXCELLANT SERVICE, a rare thing these days. Only as expensive as your belly can hold food and drink. Very competetively priced. I never give reviews unless really awful. This place is an exception thus I was compelled and delighted to share for anyone seeking a decent place to LET GO without hassles or waiting...

I really wanted to be able to give them higher marks, but I just can't. Four of us stopped in about 9 on a Friday night. Only 1 person at the bar. Bartender was friendly. Young man was cooking. We ordered drinks, apps and burgers, wings, burrito. The drinks were in very small cups, Crown Royal was $6. Ok, if it came in a grown-up cup. Draft beer was stale/skunked. Apps came out, pickle straws and mushrooms. Both tasty and reasonably priced. Burgers and wings came out. Both were good. Burrito did not come out until everyone else was almost done. Bartender advised cook didn't know how to do this. It was microwaved?? This is a self serve, pick up your own drinks and food. The Bartender did bring some things to our table. First bar I've tried in Newcastle. I'm from a city about 1.5hr south. Bar tender was great, drinks were spot on and reasonably priced. Place was clean, waitresses kept tables taken care of from what I seen. I started at the bar then moved to the Billiards area. Everyone one I spoke with was very kind and respectful. The music was classic rock. Witch is not what I prefer but don't have any issues with. It happened to be a karaoke night and it was nice to see that people respectfully cheer each other on.
