Mary's Restaurant & Bakery — Restaurant in New Castle

I have ordered food here quite a few times over the span of a couple years and I am pleased with what I get in every aspect but tonight's dinner was disappointing. There was barely any lamb in my lamb over rice meals and the bread was dry and not fresh like usual. What made it worse was when I called to speak with a manager, the staff that answered the phone asked me what I was calling about (which is fine) but then gave me an answer without letting me speak with a manager and I did ask again to do so. They said they cut down on their portions (but are selling at the same price), the amount of lamb in the whole meal was less than the palm of a hand. The portions are less than half, which they failed to mention when I placed my order and I looked online to see if they mentioned the smaller portion change and there was nothing. They also said that they ran out of bread and what they gave was what they had aside from the usual bread. They didn't offer to refund my money or remake the order. I would appreciate a refund. The person that answered the phone should have let me speak to a manager instead of telling me there's nothing they can do about it. I even ordered large containers of garlic and pepper sauces before going home and seeing what I actually got, so yes I normally like the food and even spent extra money than the two food orders. Nicest owners you'll ever meet, food is ridiculously good, and always consistent! I am a huge fan of ethnic food, especially Middle Eastern and Indian. Marys satisfies my craving for vibrant flavors and adventures in cuisine. I'm a die hard foody and worked in the food industry for 25 years. This is delicious food. The restaurant decor is welcoming, Middle Eastern display of indigenous items of culture around, welcoming staff that takes interest in you and is beautifully personable, even doing little extra things you may not think of like the thought that goes into packaging your leftovers, or brings extra pita when you didn't ask because the server saw you still had food that would need it. Free refills of soda. Price is perfectly fair and the portions very generous!! Their hummus is a MUST! Don't go here and eat without ordering it because its the most delicious hummus youll ever eat! For your sweet tooth you should try the Baklava! Irresistible and crispy, chewey and sweet and off the charts satisfying! Overall your dining experience should be top notch and if its not, an owner is always available but even if its great let them know how much you enjoyed their food. Mary's is a cozy place that makes you feel like family! My husband and I absolutely ADORE the food and the staff that work there! They make you feel right at home, and the cooking is honestly out of this world💖😍💯! I'm dead serious when I say that I feel that everyone in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio should try Mary's💯! I absolutely LOVE the staff to death, and the food is truly beyond heavenly 💖😍💯!!! My husband and I live in Hermitage, but we make a trip to New Castle JUST for Mary's because it's heaven on Earth 💖💯! My favorite dishes there are their kibbee, Dolma(Stuffed grape leaves), tabbouleh, hummus, Syrian bread, their chicken on the rod, their kofta kebab, and all of their sauces.
