This is a Fritomann review. We just stopped in for a late lunch on a Monday which is named 'margarita Monday at the Blue Iguana. You have to go down several flights of stairs to get to the waterfront patio. The upper level indoors is not open at this time. Just follow the arrows down to the lake. There is covered seating at tables, even more seating on the split level section, and the covered bar. I helped myself to a bar seat. As the Blue Iguana is practically a brand new business, I feel improvements and sprucing up will happen gradually especially in the off season. This location has existed as a restaurant for decades under a different name. I remember coming here for brunch after Church when my mom was alive. It was called Dietz in those days. I didn't even realize there was a waterfront level, or bar. You can also rent a pontoon boat here. There are docks so you can putt in by boat. Fritomann doesn't have a boat. The establishment was not busy at all and the weather was perfect. The bar is showing its age, and I didn't try the backbar area where the restrooms are located. A clean or dirty bathroom can make or break a pub like this when mature adults are your target clientele. Next time I promise to do a cursory visit to the jakes just to see. Now this is a Mexican type restaurant and the menu is extensive. I found out you get a lot for your money. I had the chimichanga with a frozen margarita, wow. The service was very good, as I was the only one there, but there were plenty of staff just in case they got busy. I noticed that they need to put up more signage or something, by the road which is a 2 lane state highway in an important tourist area, the Portage Lakes. As I was leaving another couple was pulling in and they asked ME , are they open. They don't look like they're open, especially when you look in the front door. Fritomann will be back, kind of like hanging out here, when the weather is nice and the margaritas...
Read moreMy entire family went here for Mother’s Day- to say this experience was bad with exception of our server she did all she could for us… is putting it lightly. Started off by having a reservation for 4 and getting there and being told it would be some time before table was ready - btw it could have been longer for the table that isn’t the issue it’s Mother’s Day and I understand that lots of people are going to be dining out - so go to get drinks and takes about 30 minutes to get them ordered frozen and on rocks margaritas - and by the time my sister in law finished her first drink she was hammered to the point we thought she was ruffied- actually all of us weren’t feeling good … so we get seated around 545 reservations at 4 and order right away e didn’t get our food until around 7:15 - asked for silverware and were told they didn’t have any at the moment - all the kids were upset because they are hungry- about a hour later my sister in law - the frozen margarita drink issue started throwing up nonstop and hasn’t stoped until this morning - this is the most disgusting place I have ever visited - never returning and please clean out your nasty...
Read moreGreat location. OK food. Terrible service. Didn't receive chips and salsa until after our meals came. Ordered the guacamole for an appetizer and was served the guacamole with no chips. Again didn't receive chips until after the meals came at which point they tried to give us 4 baskets.... um? Ordered 3 ground beef tacos (which is a meal with 3 tacos and rice) as well as a side of beans. Received 1 single taco with rice and beans. Sent it back right away. The server came back with the exact same plate about 10 minutes later and said she will just have them make 2 more. Ok but now the plate is cold? To my surprise however the kitchen brought out 3 tacos and rice and beans to make up for it. That was nice. One girl in our party received the completely wrong order. Server rarely checked on us, didn't ask us how our meals were tasting, etc. Oh but she made sure to keep the bar drinks flowing to increase the bill and perhaps her tip...
The food tasted good aside from the salsa which tastes like cold tomato soup.
The frozen lime margarita was soooo SOUR!!!
Disappointed. Prime location on the water but subpar service. Not sure they will stick...
