Upper Deck Bar & Grill — Restaurant in New Franklin

An honest review of good and bad. Good- great relaxing view over the lake. Friendly Staff. We were a party of 10. Service was very good and attentive. Wait times for drinks and food were acceptable for a weekend. Now the bad- if you choose to sit at a table that is in the middle deck you get to hear both the inside music and also have it compete with the below band or music- really frustrating and forget about having any kind of conversation without having to yell a little. They should decide to turn off the inside music or turn it way down if outside music is playing or band. Food- some of it was really good- the buffalo dip was excellent, fried pickles were, too. Nachos were pretty good but a little soggy by the time we got them (maybe they sat in the pick up window for too long) Do not get the grilled chicken tenders! So tough and dry I actually had to give up on chewing and spit them it out, could not eat them at all, saving grace was one of the sides they offer are fresh carrot sticks and celery- that's a plus. Now for the ladies restroom- be prepared- your knees will hit the door when seated and the toilet wobbles, well quite a bit which is very disturbing wondering if you are going to fall off, but I guess that's where the tight quarters come in handy- because if you do you will quickly bounce back off the door back onto the toilet. We did appreciate that all staff and servers wore masks. Social distancing seems to be pretty closely followed judging by the distance of each table from one another. If we go again- we will either A- sit completely inside or B- go far away from main building. We are not smokers and people were smoking on the patio which lingers right on over to interrupt your meal.

The shrimp tacos...well I could eat those things everyday for every meal. Incredible! The waitress was nice but could have been a bit more attentive. Yeah those shrimp tacos they are just amazing. Tiny bit of advice for the wait staff. Always always always ask your customers how their food is right after they take their first bite or if there is anything you can get them. Also, never ever never let a customer go thirsty. Most of the tip you will get from me is based on if my drink is kept refilled. If you keep my drink topped off you will get at minimum 20% even if all else has gone wrong. Now if the all around service is stellar, this includes my server bringing me my food, not someone I have not been acquainted with, you will get between 45%-50% tip....I've been known on rare occasions to go as high as 60%. You're guaranteed 15% since my lovely girlfriend would kill me if I didn't leave at least that however the potential to make much more is right there. I've waited tables so I understand. I will most definitely return for the shrimp tacos so you must never take them off of your menu. I'm told I'm a bit wordy. I disagree. Anyway, so what are you guys up to? How many shrimp tacos did ya sell today? Fine! I'll go! SHRIMP...

Great atmosphere, great view, food was good. Service was horrible!! Place was only about half full so not to busy It said seat yourself. Sat at a table for over 15 mins and not 1 waitress asked if they could help us or offer us a drink or a menu. So we had to go to bar & get our own drinks (when ordered our round of drinks at bar, they charged us for more expensive beer than what we ordered, but gave us the less expensive beer). Then after finishing those drinks still not one waitress stopped to ask if we needed anything. Had to walk up to the bar and ask for menus, then eventually a waitress came over. First round of drinks & appts were good after waitress came to table. Then ordered more food & waitress wanted us to cash out our bill before our 2nd round of food even came out because she said her shift was ending & we would be getting a different waitress. But then we watched her for another hour that she still was at the restaurant and working. Asked for a printed receipt she never brought it to us, Had to go back to the bar to get our printed receipt. At this point 30 mins later we still did not get our 2nd round of food and had to find her to ask when we would get our food. Then food...
