Our weekend brunch visit to Fat Nat's Egg Diner began with promise, judging by the bustling crowd outside, hinting at a dining experience to remember. Our wait time was a swift 15-20 minutes, which given the rush, was impressively short.
The majority of our dining experience was delightful. The service was generally top-notch, and our waitress exemplified the kind of warm, attentive service one hopes for. The food, in particular, stands out as a shining star and remains the primary draw for a revisit.
However, there were a couple of aspects that stood out as less than perfect. Our first impression inside the diner was unfortunately tainted by a young kid who was responsible for greeting and seating the guests. His behavior was surprisingly dismissive and lacked the warmth we later experienced with our waitress. It's essential for first impressions to be spot on, and in this case, it did leave a sour note.
Further, our seating arrangement was less than ideal. Being situated right next to the kitchen door and the server's drink station made for a disruptive experience. It felt as though, in an effort to accommodate more guests, our comfort was compromised. The constant foot traffic and noise from that spot detracted from what could have been a relaxed meal.
In conclusion, Fat Nat's Egg Diner serves up a delicious meal and mostly excellent service, but a few tweaks would elevate the experience from good to great. For now, it remains a solid 4-star outing with room for...
Read moreI could not distinguish the difference between my Carnitas Mish mash from my wifes chorizo Mish mash..but it was delicious. I don't know why my entire comments didn't show up here, but I'll try again. Yes, I consider it "Mish mash" as in, everything is jumbled on the plate. Too much stuff going on at the same time, although, it is very good. I will back yo wha I said about not distinguish the pictures, because you really cannot tell by looks alone, what is what? The Chorizo was tasty, the carnitas were tasty, but this "fuax" Mexican would be perfect if you served it with flour tortillas, really. I'm not saying it wasn't delicious, IT WAS VERY GOOD. Personally I like my food not all piled (mish-mashed) all over the plate. Funny was when we asked for a slice of cheese on our pancakes we were informed that they would not do that in the kitchen...lol...so our plates were brought out and the slice of cheese on it's own plate, ha, ha, ha....I took the slice, before the plate hit the table, placed it on our pancakes and sent the empty plate back. The pancakes were also good. I do want to come back and taste other dishes. This place is obviously very popular, and I am not taking anything away from that, I'm simply stating my likes in comparison to how it's done here...your breakfast is very good and I stand behind...
Read morePlate looked fantastic. The browns were excellent. The burger needed some work. All burgers are the same base price of $10.50 as of 4/19/18. All fixings that you want are at no extra charge. In other words, a plain old patty is the same price as a California Bacon Cheeseburger. All burgers are 1/2 lb.
I ordered the Cali bacon cheese. burgers come with chips or breakfast potatoes. I upgraded to hash browns (or fries) for an extra $1.75. I asked for medium rare. It came out between med/well to well. Not a smidgeon of pink left. The bun was a bit dry. Don't get me wrong, the burger was not bad, it just wasn't great. The hash browns were though.
One might say, "Why did you order a burger at an egg place?" I feel like if it's good enough to be on the menu, it's good enough to do right.
At the end of the meal, with 15% tip included, I dropped $15.20 on the meal. That's too pricey for a burger and potatoes unless it's something spectacular. It fell a little short in the end. Don't let that deter you from going though. It's still pretty good.
Friend ordered chicken strips with fries- came to $14 w/tip. Looked like the size of a chicken strip kids meal (3 average strips with a handful of fries). She wasn't too impressed.
I guess stick...
