Finally got to The Lighthouse Inn…with no help from them! I say that because when you turn down Guthrie, had you been a visitor from out of town-you would’ve never known, sitting in front of you is the majestic Lighthouse Inn.
There are ZERO signage! Zero lights accentuating the building and ZERO signage around the backside at the entrance as well! Oh wait there was a sign leaning against the building that said we are open. Of course in the dark there was no lights on it -so you really had to walk right over to see it.
May I heartily suggest across the front windows (that look out over the water) & in between the top windows, put a huge sign that reads -The Lighthouse Inn-with a star crossed lights on the front of the building aimed right at it!
And on the backside… on the blue awning, at least have the name “The Lighthouse Inn” printed directly on it, so people are aware that they actually have arrived.
Now for the good stuff… the Arancini was absolutely delicious and the Oysters Rockefeller was off the charts pure perfection. These hors d’oeuvres, were absolutely delicious, and as we were only there to do just that (hors d’oeuvres,) …we inhaled them and then went on our way.😉
I would make the suggestion that the lighting in the bar itself be changed up as it is not conducive to a bar scene. The ones over the bar are fine, but the other ones throughout the bar are way too bright.
They’ve got the food, right! Now to tidy up everything and bring it all together! And definitely for future reference decorate for...
Read moreBeen going here since it originally opened for as long as I could remember. Food was always good. Then when it closed it was upsetting. When I heard it was reopening as well as the lighthouse inn(later on in possibly 2023 in late summer) I was thrilled. So I had gone a few days after opening. The food was alright and they only had some beer and wine options. Now as of the time of reviewing and returning after several trips since reopening, they gave their liquor license and the food has significantly improved. I'd suggest the clam chowder, tavern burger, NY Strip, their salads, and the brownie cheese cake. Obviously they have many other good options. The one I'd suggest to maybe pass on it the fried chicken sandwich. The crust holds onto to much grease and it a off putting taste. Maybe they will try a different flour or breading for it but for that item I'd suggest to pass. Their adult liquor drinks can be on the strong side so be for warned. If that's okay with you then great. I don't mind it especially after a long day/week. But the staff and all who work there is fantastic from the hosts to the servers especially the people that make the drinks like Liz and Steve. So next time your in the area please give them a try. The prices vary from about $10-$32 I believe which is the NY strip steak. You won't be hopefully disappointed. Tell...
Read moreService is extremely slow here. Was hardly anyone there yet it took forever to get someone to take orders, to get drinks, we almost canceled food if it wasn't for it coming out at the very last second. Their specialty cocktails were awful. Not sure whether someone inexperienced was making drinks or what, but I would stick with beer or wine if you go. The food tasted just OK, I was not impressed with any of it. For the prices they are charging I expect a hell of a lot more. Not portion wise, I mean in presentation, flavor, that sort of thing. The dinner menu listed online was completely different from what we were given. Maybe because we were in the bar? Then why isn't that menu listed on the site? I like knowing what I'm getting before I get there if I can. The atmosphere and historical building are beautiful, but that doesn't do anything for business if everything else sucks. Our waiter did try (repeatedly asking the kitchen where the food was at, mind you we had a salmon cake, fish dinner, and salad...these things shouldn't take an hour to make!) and I know it's not his fault so this has nothing to do with him, but the place is a disaster and I highly doubt I'd be willing to return. I'd suggest On the Waterfront before this...
