Normally Sol Food is one of my favorite places to eat. I look forward to caretaking my friend's house and taking a daily walk to Seco with a definite stop at Sol Food for some chai and perhaps a bite to eat. Today was not that day and I will probably never go there again. Granted it was a busy Sunday, I figured I would order a simple chai to go. Apparently it was too much to ask for. Not only was the counter staff incapable of taking my order, Anna, the owner, interrupted and proceeded to let the counter staff know that they were to take care of a particular table with the owners family and receive VIP treatment. Anna, ALL customers should receive VIP treatment. The way the whole situation was handled was really crappy, I simply wanted a chai so I could proceed on my way, nothing more. I was willing to not take up space with my friends dog, but I guess that was too much. I am not a tourist, I am not a local. I am simply a person who likes good chai and basic service. I wound up going to Taos Cow where I got great service and a good chai. Guess where I will be frequenting? It definitely isn't Sol...
Read moreAtmosphere for breakfast is of negligible importance to me; however, it was interesting. My first impression is that this was a great place in a very small village on the way to a ski destination.
The ad in the local dining guide was interesting and proclaimed âTHE HEALTHIEST FOOD IN TAOSâ despite NOT being in Taos.
It has an interesting physical layout that impacts efficiency yet the tasks get accomplished.
Deb had the Sol Food Breakfast Sando which was difficult to handle as a sandwich and had too much pesto for her tastes. I had Papas con Chile with green and a side of bacon. I asked for over medium eggs with solid whites and runny yellows. I am fairly sure that the egg whites were not fully cooked but after mixing everything together in the chile it was difficult to be sure.
Staff were friendly and attentive. The questionable egg whites belies the âhealthiestâ food claim regardless of location. Since this was our only visit I canât extrapolate how other fare might be. IF I were to go there for breakfast again I would order differently....
Read moreDining at Sol Food Cafe was a delightful experience, particularly due to their outstanding sandwich, El Caballero. The first bite revealed the perfectly balanced kick of heat from the green chile, which melded seamlessly with the rich, savory flavors of the sandwich. The crunchy, cheesy bread added a wonderful texture, making each bite an adventure. The accompanying Au jus/"oh-ZHOO" sauce elevated the experience further, providing a savory dip that enhanced the flavors and made the meal fun and interactive. The lovely waiter added to the charm of the morning , offering helpful advice on the menu and sharing her personal favorites, ensuring our meal was not only delicious but also memorable. There were some other honorable menu food items the family and I tried check out the pictures to see if you can match it to the menu. đ anyways Bon AppĂ©tit...
