Visiting from out of town, and this one of the few vegan spots in the city that's open late. Being from out of town, we didn't know the setup at first and thought maybe they were closed, there's no shop sign out front that we saw and the doors and windows are blacked out, and the door is always locked. Know going in that this ain't a spot where you can come in and order and sit down, you order in advance and pickup from the small window at the front of the building. Homeboy that works there caught us as we were walking off since we thought it was closed and told us we could tell him what he wanted at the window and he'd start on it while he walked us through ordering and paying on their website. This for sure a small UNGENTRIFIED black-owned business; if you expecting the traditional setup you gonna be disappointed - there IS a wait and it was a little longer than what he told us, but bro was happy to take the time and answer questions about the menu, and even hooked us up with a side of cauli bites because he had to make a modification to one of our orders. Food was BUSSIN, the burger was so filling I was lowkey bummed I didn't have the room to finish all my onion rings.
Know that you gonna be waiting, if you got somewhere important to be I wouldn't expect you gonna be able to pull up 20 min before and still be on time - I seen reviews complaining about the neighborhood the place is in and how sketch it is, but we stood out there waiting and people do be walking by and hanging around but nobody was acting out of pocket or bothering us, I think people just be uncomfortable seeing poor black folks out in the open minding their own business. 🙄 And we went late at night AND back during the day.
Aside from the wait time, was some of the best vegan food I've had, and again homeboy working there was nothing but chill and helpful, and went the extra mile. Definitely already recommending this place to more folks - hope y'all keep doing what you doing, always happy to see and support more homegrown black businesses, even if they don't look as fancy on the surface or follow the same model of your other favorite vegan joint. Thanks so much for the perfect last meal on our way out of the city 💛✨
My only suggestion is maybe communicate a little better and more accurately about the time it'll take to finish an order - I ain't ever stressing about the wait itself because good things take time, but I'd rather know I'mma be waiting 50 min instead of being told it's 25-30 min and then asking to wait a little longer when it's already been past that. It is what it is tho, so I'mma still give y'all the stars because I'mma keep coming back to this...
Read moreSo I am beyond mad right now for so many reasons but I will only name a few!!!! 1. Why has NONE of my vegan and vegetarian friends told me about this spot, I had to find it on Google. 2. I really need this place to be on the map of best vegan/vegetarian spots out there but here we are. 3. Who told him ("E") to make this food so good. 4. It was really hard for me to tell if I was actually eating vegan because the food taste so much like the actually meat but it's NOT! I had placed this spot in my list of places to visit and finally made it. I was not disappointed. The food was hot, fresh, flavorful and OMG so good. It's best to call in your order or order through the app because I waited 45 min but it was so worth it. You will have to get it togo only because it's not Dine in. I sat in my car and the atmosphere was a little weird with the people passing by but they didn't bother me and I didn't bother them. I really wish they would add a sign because I had passed this place so many times and had no clue they were located here. I had the 2nd line burger (walnuts) and it was topped with a sauce that had me licking fingers and plate. The grilled bellpeppers and onions gives it that extra blast of goodness in the mouth. I decided to order a "small" bbq cauliwing plate and should have ordered the side because there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING small about the small. There was enough food for at least 3 days alone or 4 people in one sitting, see photos if you don't believe me. He even had to use a rubber band to keep it closed. All I can say is absolutely amazing. My only suggestion would be, cut back on the onion powder or whatever seasoning is on the wings. I want say it wasn't salty but there is a seasoning that was a bit overpowering at times and it taste more like a onion or garlic powder. Other that that, well done. It's a definite must try.!!!!! I will...
Read moreBeen here 3 times.. the first time (also my first time trying vegan food) the wait was about 45 mins and the two guys working looked like zombies and had no customer service skills but the food was pretty good so i paid it no attention.. The second time around on New Years eve, i ordered about 45 mins in advance to counteract the wait time and still waited for about 5min (an older woman was in there she was friendly).. My third and LAST time going i ordered 45mins in advance and was told it would be 40 mins (i ordered 3 vegan tacos and 1 vegan hotdog) i ordered at 10:00 and the food wasnt ready until 11:30 for 3 tacos and 1 hotdog—— the same two guys were in there looking stone and moving slow with no sense of urgency.. when i walked in they said “15 more mins” so i waited 20mins, walked back in they said “5 minutes” when i walked back in i still had to wait five more mins... also the young girl and the counter didnt know the prices so she had to ask the slowly moving, stoner-looking cook with the eye glasses for each price as he’s mumbling prices out...so i pulled up the menu for them on my phone.
After eating vegan from different places now, I realize they’re food are as good as I originally thought and DEFINITELY NOT WORTH the poor service and longggggg wait.. this is my 1st time EVER doing a bad service review, thats how bad the wait and service is.. the only reason i waited the last time was bc it was late nite and there aren’t many vegan places open Sunday nite... but it was DEFINITELY MY LAST TIME EVER...
