Dinner at DED's on Block Island was an unforgettable experience! Located just across from our Narragansett Inn Hotel, it made for the perfect spot to enjoy a meal while watching the storm roll in. The food was absolutely spot-on—I'll be dreaming about the Crab Rangoon Flatbread for weeks. We also savored the Scallop Tostadas, Swordfish Bites, and the delicious rolls served with pepper jam and honey butter. Every dish was exceptional! Adding to the evening's charm was the Monday night jazz music, which set the perfect backdrop as we made new friends and soaked in the iconic atmosphere. The blend of great food, live music, and a picturesque storm rolling in made for a truly memorable evening—one that felt like it could only happen here on Block Island. DED's has a rich history, adding to its appeal. Originally established in the 1940s, it has been a longstanding fixture in the New Harbor area, offering breathtaking views of the marina and Great Salt Pond. Named after a character from Herman Melville's novel, the restaurant has maintained its classic seaside charm while delivering a modern culinary experience. This blend of history, ambiance, and fantastic food makes DED's a must-visit spot on Block Island.

There seems to be a management problem. Checked in with Maitre d', who did not smile, properly greet, or display any positive energy. (Male with beard). He said 45 minutes wait for inside, an hour for deck. Gave name for deck. He never suggested waiting on lawn where light food/drink service is a available. After soliciting this information from him we proceeded to the lawn. Finding a couple of vacant seats with many dirty dishes and glasses between them we sat down. After several minutes we removed the dirty dishes and glasses ourselves and waited for service. Eventually we flagged down a waitress who was very pleasant. She took our order for drinks and a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail came out quickly, but the cup had so little cocktail sauce that it was not enough for even one shrimp. We waited to tell the waitress but she never returned after about 10 minutes. In addition our drinks never showed up. We waited another 5 or 10 minutes. Meanwhile the entire time since we sat down there were three open two Top tables on the deck. Then additional tables opened up and remained open. At no time while we were sitting on the lawn just off the deck did any of these tables have persons or any settings on them. After 25 minutes of watching the Open tables and not having our drinks we decided to leave. On the way out I tipped our waitress whose was not at all at fault and explained to her why we were leaving. I stopped to tell the maitre d about our disappointment and dissatisfaction but he was talking to another party and then rudely answered a telephone call as he was speaking to the party in front of him. I simply gave up and walked out to a line of persons waiting for a table who had no clue that there were many open tables on the deck and in the restaurant. It's hard to understand how an owner can invest so much money in a wonderful facility and do so much advertising and then have it all fall apart at the point-of-service. Will try it again next year and hope the management issues have been resolved. I was told the food is good but cant comment on that due to...

I walked into the bar area looking to grab lunch. Mind you, I am on the island to work and have not been drinking. It was 2pm. Sidney the bartender who took her time facing bottles and eating her own lunch finally decided to walk over. (I watched her take a bite of her sandwich, wipe her hands on her shirt and walk over to take my order). I looked over to the man seated next to me and he commented that it must be the busiest time of day, just not with customers. I made a comment that she took 10 minutes to get to me and she said," No it’s been 3 or 4. She informed me she would not serve me because of my attitude. Kelly, her manager, said she wouldn’t make her serve me. This is lunch, no drinking involved. You have a rude unprofessional staff. Absolutely unacceptable.

When a customer walks in they are to be greeted. At least give a look and say, I will be right with you. When a customer is unhappy with service or food, ask what can be done to make the customer happy. Sydney acted as if she owned the bar and would serve food to who she pleased, and it didn't matter that she was rude. Kelly the manager decided to back up her employee and did nothing to make the customer happy. I would give a negative star if I could. I never wright reviews but this negative experience needed to be shared. Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of nice restaurants with great service and food you can visit on Block Island and not receive such...

Date of dinning: 7/22/22

Low quality with a high price tag. Anyone claiming it's above a 1 star has no pallet for quality dinning. 1) cold new england chowder, and they could care less when a kind complaint was made , 2) over an hr for meal to be served 3) main courses included ,Fra Diavolo "Fresca" , Fish and chips along with 2 burger platters all subpar at best. The Fish and chips meal was fried into fish jerky, rubbery and hard. The diavlo seemingly made by a 2nd grader using ragu spaghetti sauce with crushed pepper. Oh and it was all 3 plates of fra diavolo, eliminating the chance of a " fluke". The burgers, well 2 13 year old had them and they were burgers with fries... so no complaints from them.

I find it hard to believe anyone with any standards would rate this place above a 1 - 2 star. Perhards they feel obligated because they are on block island and spent a pretty penny.

Also. To our Serbian waitress, when you ask how everything is and a genuine kind complaint is made at least attempt to correct the issue... cold clam chowder... instead it was dismissed.

Just absolutely terrible all around.

They can get away with the sub par food and service because it's block island and they have alot of unwarranted high reviews, in my honest opinion.

I just don't believe this establishment warrants anymore than a 1 , from my experience.

Much much much and many better options on the...
