EDIT: 3 STARS FOR CANNIBALIZING STEELERS DECOR IN FAVOR OF HOBBY LOBBY GARBAGE (extended explanation below)
5 star waffles + 10 star service! Best waffles this side of the beach & always excellent, cheerful service. We’ve been coming here for years and have always loved it. My late grandmother & aunt (both died during the pandemic) were both big Steeler fans. We were even eating breakfast there the DAY my grandmother passed & thought she’d have loved to know we were with her spirit in some way.
EDIT to 3 STARS: This is now the saddest review I’ve ever written… but fear the future, envy the past I guess.
We came here this morning for my birthday breakfast because we loved the FORMERLY charming, homey feel of this place, which used to be decorated with Steelers memorabilia contributed by patrons & the former owners for YEARS.
Tragically, the latest owners CANNIBALIZED THE PLACE taking down almost all of the memorabilia — not to mention trashing customer memories along with it! — and replacing it with Made in China Hobby Lobby garbage, mismatched and outdated farmhouse plaques, and oversized pictures of the food which somehow killed my appetite.
There are a few small generic Pittsburgh decor items and some of the memorabilia wall around the kitchen bar but the spirit is gone. Now it’s just another boring, tacky beige strip mall diner, with whispers of Pittsburgh and one wall to remind us of what’s gone.
I pray that Rick haunts them from the grave until it’s fixed.
We might keep coming back for the waffles and the friendly, hospitable service but as for the rest? Eh?
What would make this a five star review again? Bring back the true Steeler Nation spirit and maybe even give the Pirates and Penguins some space.
To drive my point home on how much this stole the spirit of the place, a quote from Steelers v. Cowboys during Super Bowl XIII: “this Dallas is superfan Whistling Ray and a hat that sprays the unsuspecting with water; Pittsburgh is a guy in a gorilla suit who'll stove five of your ribs if you laugh at him.”
To the new owners: give your staff an IMMEDIATE raise for keeping this place afloat despite attempts to sink its spirit.
You don’t deserve the profits while you slice the spirit right off the walls!!
If I can bear to come back, it’ll be with fistfuls of terrible towels.
You’re welcome,...
Read moreWow. Great breakfast. First of all the service was great. We were seated right away and every step of the way we never had to wait for our waitress or flag her down. Our coffee cups were always kept full. We were here at 9am on a Tuesday and it was nearly full but they had 5 waitresses on to cover about 20 tables (I.e well staffed). Despite the name of the place being waffles, we went with other breakfast items. I went with the eggs Benedict and they were fantastic. Eggs were perfectly poached and the hash browns were perfectly cooked. Wife went with corned beef hash and that was also cooked perfectly the way she likes it. Portions were perfect. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the food is the best you'll ever have but it is WAY better than most places. I've eaten in some well reviewed restaurants in NYC and this place would be right up there at least in terms of breakfast.
They have some outdoor seating too if you'd like a bit quieter setting or would like the fresh air with your breakfast.
The decor is very nice - not at all what I expected. (I expected typical old decor like you get at your local diner) Modern yet cozy.
All in all this is a great place for a great breakfast. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
By the way if you are a Pittsburgh fan you'll feel at home with some sprinkles of steelers and pens stuff around the kitchen. (I'm a...
Read moreThis is an awesome restaurant. Fair warning, if you are a Steeler’s fan, you are good to go. If you are a Patriots fan you may want to eat outside or choose another restaurant since there is lots of Steeler’s gear on the walls. The Patriot gear is hung upside-down. The waitresses wear black outfits with yellow lettering. So, go with a good sense of humor and a good appetite. It is in a shopping center right off the main road. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is in the center (corner) of the shopping center. There are tables outside and inside. We chose to eat inside. It is seat yourself and the waitress will come to your table. The waitress was super. This was our first time to the restaurant and she gave us recommendations for lunch. It is a waffle place so, even though it was lunch, we both ordered waffles. We got and order of waffles with strawberries and an order of a bacon waffle (awesome!) with chicken and spicy syrup. The serving size was enough for 2 meals. I am new to the whole chicken waffle thing. The waffles and chicken were excellent. On top of that our waitress, Lily, was wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone who want great food, service and...
