B.D.C Lunch — Restaurant in New York

The folks who made the food were nice. However, the food was not. I didn’t pay for someone to be nice to me, I paid for good food and service.

I ordered Mac n cheese, string beans and fried fish. All for my birthday that also happened to be Memorial Day. I was super excited to finally eat after doing some light traveling.

When I tasted the Mac n cheese I was absolutely appalled. There was nothing cheesy about it. I could only taste salt. There was only cheese on top. I’ve made Mac n cheese many of times at home. It’s simple and straight to the point. It’s so easy to make so I don’t understand how this was ruined. She definitely skimped out on the cheese entirely. Literally the pasta was just in some kind of cream. It tasted like the campbells cheddar cheese. It really is appalling that someone would do this for a paying customer.

The string beans tasted like they were straight out of the can. The water at the bottom of the pan showed me that much. Again, this is a easy thing to make. The only thing tolerable was the fried fish. It’s incredibly salty but it was tolerable.

I’m not sure who wrote these reviews but they sound like they are family and/or friends. I also looked at the pics and it’s clear she knows how to make it; but only when she decides when it’s worth it.

Overall, I am so incredibly embarrassed because I almost served it to friends. My entire order cost me $150. The chef probably knows how to actually make Mac n cheese. However, the chef is clearly more concerned with hoarding as much money as possible than serving good food. I would take a good guess that she spent maybe $20-$30 to make this entire order.

I took a few bites of the food and threw the entire pans away. Not only was this a waste of money but it really was frustrating to have this happen on my birthday! I had to make other arrangements for food.

Popeyes Mac n cheese tasted 1000x better than this. Probably because it actually has cheese.

I’m sure she does not serve this to her family or to a broader range of people (like in a restaurant setting).

I love this place! Excellent quality and ambiance. The service was prompt and delightful. I didn't feel pressured or rushed. I had the B.B.Q chicken, tender and juicy. The meat just fell off the bone. What can I say about the Mac & cheese? It was the cheesiest. A mouth full of wonderfulness. The food, the food, the food. I really try to pass by at times but the fish keeps calling me. ;) I’ve tried some other things the mac and cheese, cabbage, and barbecue chicken, finger licking good. The cake, girl can bake, make sure to get you one for your special events. I did the first one sold me entirely. You won’t be disappointed. But stop by you will be full and satisfied.
