Gigi's Pizzeria - Whitestone — Restaurant in New York

Will never order from this place again! We have a favorite pizza place already but decided to try a new place today, and went with Gigi’s. I placed the preorder at 1130am because they weren’t open yet and scheduled for delivery at 1245PM (I have a newborn baby and tend to place order ahead of time when I get the chance). At 12Pm I got email from Grubhub saying my meal is being prepared - meaning the restaurant picked up the order. At 1pm, my order hasn’t arrived and I decide to call the restaurant to check on status. I told them I ordered on grubhub and the person picking up phone with the nastiest attitude said “I stopped grubhub for 1 hr, we are really busy here.” I explained that I placed order at 1130 and they should have cancelled my order if that was the case. He said he’ll take my order over the phone but they are veryyyy busy. He pretty much made it seem like he was too busy for my order. I asked how long will it take and he responded “we are really busy here.” I pressed for an estimate and he said “30 minutes”, I’m like okay it’ll be delivered to my place in 30 minutes? He responded “we are very busy, maybe.” Ultimately I cancelled my order because the guy was wayyyy too busy for my order and did not deserve my business. Here’s some advice: next time you are toooo busy and need to place a stop on grubhub, learn to cancel the order and not pick up the order. And if all you wanted was for customers to call in the place order so you don’t have to pay a fee, then why are you on grubhub? If you don’t know how to cancel an order on grubhub, perhaps you should learn. Oh or did you join grubhub during covid-19 because you were desperate for any business? I am a regular here and work just up the block. I really enjoy the staff here, they make me feel very welcome and always address my very specific needs and wants. They are under new ownership and today I had one of my first direct encounters with him where he seemed really nice. Upon getting my food, there was some sort of plastic hair like fiber hairs on my sandwich. To which the owner chimed in quickly letting me know it was rosemary. I cook ALOT myself so that didn't make any sense to me. I went back and placed emphasis on the fact that it was not rosemary, to the very helpful & friendly staff that normally assists me, to which they agreed that they had no idea what it was. It ended up being all over every sandwich and they threw out the batch. It was no issue, I understand things happen but the owner never directly addressed me after that to apologize on behalf of his establishment and HE was the one who served me my replacement order of two slices. There was no acknowledgment on his part after trying to gaslight me into thinking it was rosemary. I love this place and I myself run my own office, I think its important to always acknowledge mistakes that are made and a simple apology goes a really long way. Not only am I grateful that they are open, but they have excellent customer service. I am not just saying this because I am an avid Avid Pizza and Pasta Lover!! 🥰 I just ordered my long-time favorite eggplant. No. Honestly, it was meatball parmesan with baked ziti. The baked Ziti would have been only the common factor with the eggplant parmesan meal. But I'm allergic to eggplant as much as I love it. 😥So I went with my second best choice. 😅 😋 Either which way the food smells great the pizzas all look fresh. My daughter is having to Cod salad with grilled chicken. My hubby is going to have two slices of pizza one named the Vodka something. And the other is chicken barbecue Pizza. Me being my usual greedy self. I also ordered. Spinach casserole and garlic knots for all of us to share my greedy face is on right now.😋🤗🤗 Sometimes I think I was born in this body but really I'm supposed to be a giant obese female!!
