My recent experience at Hot Spot Diner, accompanied by its attached indoor soccer field, unfortunately falls far short of any reasonable expectations for a hospitality establishment. The overall quality of service and the proprietor's conduct during our visit warrant a comprehensive evaluation.
Upon renting the indoor soccer field, we were immediately confronted with a barrage of grievances from the owner, including complaints about the number of soccer balls in use and the mere presence of children who were quietly observing their guardians partake in the sport. Such undue strictures on the usage of the field, particularly in the absence of any disruptive behavior, detract significantly from the intended recreational purpose.
Adding to the disconcerting nature of this experience was the owner's subsequent assertion that children were not allowed in the vicinity of the field. However, it is important to note that this stipulation was never communicated prior to our arrival, and we were only made aware of this supposed policy upon being present at the establishment. This retrospective imposition of a rule raises questions about transparency and fairness.
Furthermore, the owner's insistence that children remain confined to the diner area, ostensibly to encourage purchases within that space, casts a shadow over the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. This heavy-handed attempt to monetize every aspect of the visit is both transparent and off-putting.
The overall hygiene standards of the facility, notably the deplorable state of the bathrooms, are worthy of mention. Their lamentable condition and apparent lack of maintenance stand as a stark indictment of the establishment's commitment to cleanliness and the well-being of its patrons.
In light of the aforementioned factors, it is regrettably evident that Hot Spot Diner and its attached indoor soccer field fall short of providing a satisfactory experience. The proprietorial conduct, restrictive policies, and subpar maintenance collectively render this establishment an unpalatable choice for patrons seeking quality leisure and recreational activities. In consideration of these aspects, I am compelled to dissuade individuals from availing themselves of the field rental or visiting the premises, in the hope that they might be spared a similarly...
Read moreNestled deep in the Southern Ironbound section of Newark, this hub of bounty is a source of endless varieties of feasts. The parking lot contains a few beautiful vintage vehicles forasmuch as to slow you down and ask you to look around at the surroundings. This is this.
So many things to see on the way in. The aforementioned chariots, the wood-burning stoves on the southern entrance, the indoor football pitch! Cool man. The bar just inside of the game-zone was empty at 4:00 PM on Friday but vibrantly hinted at the fiesta that would probably be going down in a few hours.
Diner tables are situated along the windows surrounding the “L” shaped bar with a breakfast/lunch grill that was just being cleaned up for the day when I arrived. Friendly, attentive waiters warmly greeted me as I sat down at the diner stool, next to one of the cooks. He was eating a juicy steak that looked delightful but a bit to heavy for what I wanted.
Looking at the online menu, there was a picture of that very steak above a listing for Octopus! That settled it, I wanted to see what that looked, felt and tasted like. Double espresso was just the boost for my whilst I waited and watched the gentle action around the place. Everyone seemed happy and cooperative- patrons and employees. Sweet vibe.
When my meal was brought out, I know immediately that this would be delicious. 8 medium-sized golden potatoes, boiled, gently smooshed and drizzled with drawn butter along withi sauteed onions and peppers.
Cutting the Octupus arm with the serrated knife they supplied, I knew the main course was prepared with love and experience. So tender, splitting between my incisors and breaking down like melting butter in my eyeteeth. HEAVEN ON EARTH.
I can’t wait to get back there again soon to see the beautiful ladies and gentlemen at the HOT SPOT!!!! Keep producing the legendary dining experience. LOVE AND...

Eat good, drink good and experience Portuguese cuisine in a safe and enjoyable experience .... This is from someone who's walked in many different shoes in various walks of life per say and it's just right even if your budget is on the low end you can still enjoy a taste from one of the more enjoyable business in the world the...
