Always on the hunt for a local deli that can make some really meaty and juicy subs/grinders/hoagies and I stumbled upon Italian Gourmet Deli (not on socials). I was hesitant to go because of some reviews complaining about their customer service, but some of the photo shared looked enticing enough for me to put that aside.
I arrived during a busy lunch, rush, luckily, I ordered ahead. As soon as I walk through the door, the lady behind the counter as busy as they were looked up and addressed me directly and kindly. I was also greeted with a smile and offered to help from the owner, which immediately put me at ease. Customer service â
The owner was so excited that it was my first time there that he threw some additional chicken cutlets my way, which is literally my love language đđź.
When we got home, we eagerly opened everything up and dove right in. The Italian sandwich was probably the most flavorful however I wouldâve loved to have some sort of ham or turkey in there. The salad also hit the spot with the crispy chicken cutlet, which is probably one of my favorite meals. The chicken cutlet overall was good but Iâve had better but didnât land so well was a cheesesteak. It was subpar not hearty, Kind of dry. I also ordered hashbrowns which were overcooked and inedible.
Overall, I would give this place a 3 out of 5. A place to put on our radar, but not one that I would rush back to. The local grinder...
Read moreI used to take my mom to a luncheon they catered years ago, and the food was always delicious. So good, in fact, that I had to ask who the caterer was. It seems like whenever I mention this place, tucked away behind Yanni's, everyone knows exactly where it is and knows how great the food is!
Went there this morning to get a quick breakfast and as always, it was ready in a jiffy and super yum. I got an egg and pepper jack cheese sandwich on a hard roll with a hashbrown stuffed in there - it definitely brightened a rainy, gloomy morning. When I got home, about ten minutes away, it was still hot and perfect. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. They are always ready to go the extra mile and put together whatever you like for your order.
Everyone who works here is super nice and they all have great personalities, and they know their stuff. They are always quick to make suggestions and more than willing to answer all my questions. I've had more than one chat while waiting for an order (I'm too lazy to call in ahead!)
Their soup from the case is good too. I knew I was going to have dental work done, so I stocked up on a few buckets of frozen soup. While I was recovering, it was so easy to heat up and so comforting!
This is one of my favorite places for a quick bite - would give 6...
Read moreWent in for lunch early to try and beat the rush, as I only have a half hour lunch break. Walked up to counter placed order for a sandwich. I then stood in the middle of deli for over 10min until someone asked if I had been helped. I said I put in my order already, and restated what my order was. Meanwhile people had come in ordered and weâre served, a few more had come in to pick up and were served. After another 10 min I put my bag of chips back and walked out. There were at least 8 people working and no one seemed to care to correct a possible mistake. I wasnât offered any customer service, that my order may have been overlooked and are on it now. This was beyond frustrating and I wasted my whole lunch break standing around. I work for a larger utility company and eat lunch out all over greater Hartford. I will be telling all the guys to never go here again. I have had some questionable service here before but this is the last time I go to the Italian Gourmet. I have a food service background and can completely understand the lunch rush. I was ignored, and...
