The Hungry RoadThe Hungry Road
(Last visited 10/21/2022.) Yelp tells me I've visited this place 7 times in the last 2 years and with good reason! Now I'll tell you why that's the case! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off the Berlin Turnpike in Newington just mere minutes from Bae's house is this gem! I'm not going to lie, it's quite easy to drive right past this place, but what got our attention were the lit-up "igloos" that they had for outdoor seating during COVID-19 post-lockdown when restaurants were only allowed to sit people outdoors. So now you know they have a pretty decent patio for the warmer months and the inside is fairly small, maybe 10 tables or so. It's a really chill atmosphere with an open kitchen concept. There are lots of big windows to let it natural light which is one of my favorite aspects of this place. Service: Now, truth-be-told, I've never actually eaten IN here. Lol. Bae and I have always gotten takeout. The staff here are always friendly though! Food: My go-to here is the Mediterranean chicken salad with gyro chicken. The salad is freaking huge for one. It comes with mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, olives, cranberries, walnuts and feta cheese. The ingredients are so simple and they work together so well. The chicken is savory, hearty and deliciously seasoned. I've also had their lamb gyro and it was fantastic. The meat was succulent, juicy and FULL of flavor. It was a great size and certainly filling. The gyro came with tomatoes, onions and great tzatziki sauce. Fantastic food. Value: The gyro was $11.00 and was totally worth it. You may want a small salad or something to go along with it though due to its heartiness. The Mediterranean salad is $14.00 and it costs $5.00 to add a portion of chicken, gyro chicken or gyro meat. Shrimp is $7.00. Not a bad deal at all considering the portions they serve. In conclusion, Mykonos will always be a go-to of mine if I'm coming home and just want to pick something up or just simply don't feel like cooking! Lol. I will make it here to actually dine-in someday! If you made it this far in the review, I appreciate you reading. Please do me a favor and head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and subscribe! My channel features a lot of food, car and exclusive shoe related content! Help me grow! Thank you so much!

A pathetic excuse for customer service and hospitality. Take your money elsewhere! After more than a decade of supporting this restaurant, we chose to plan an important family event here. We met with the owner and reviewed all of the details. There was some initial confusion over which area in the restaurant we'd be using, but we acquiesced and moved on with the planning. We were expecting 25 to 30 people for the event and asked to have the food served family style with a very limited menu to keep things easy for the kitchen and wait staff. The owner agreed and asked us to finalize the menu and send it to him. As requested, we sent a finalized menu to the owner with a final guest count of 32 (8 of which were children). Given the handful of additional guests who had responded since our meeting with the owner, we even added platters of food and more appetizers to the order. Despite our loyal patronage, our shared Greek heritage, and an awareness of the importance of the event, the owner sent a text less than one week from the event telling us that we needed to find somewhere else because he wasn't going to make enough money. The text from him is attached for your reference. Not only did the owner refuse our business, he lost all the money he was going to make on food and drinks..... AND he lost our patronage forever. 🧿 Γαμώ τη μάνα σου!

I have come to Mykonos bunch of times before, but never got around to writing a review, so making up for that now. This time I was here with family, there were 10 of us. Unfortunately, not everyone was on time, and the staff at Mykonos was super helpful and understanding, taking initial orders for kids, then apps for adults, and waiting to order the main meals. The attention from staff is fantastic, never had an empty cup of water once. Now the food, the main start of Mykonos. Honestly, I haven't had a bad dish here yet. First you get delicious bread with oil and roasted garlic to dip in. Then we started with a few apps: Spanakopita and Dolmathes. I had Shrimp Krasato for main meal. Shrimp with red wine, cherry peppers, feta, spinach, capers, tomato and garlic sauce. It was very flavorful, had a nice kick to it, and very filling. A few other dishes that our party ordered were Mixed Grill Plate (abundance of meats, that could feed a small army), Gyro Plate (comes with all the trimmings to make a delicious gyro), Lamb Youvetsi (roasted leg of lamb with tomatoes and orzo) and Scrod Plaki (baked scrod topped with roasted tomato, spinach and onions). Everyone came out full and satisfied. A few even had room for a slice of baklava.

This was my husband and I first time dining here. We were pleased with the food. We were brought ice cold water with an ice cold water jug, a warm loaf of bread and a small plate of garlic olive oil pretty quick after ordering our meal. It was delicious. My husband ordered an add-on side salad with our meal which was mixed greens, green pepper, cucumber, red onion, and tomato with a house-made dressing. This was very good also. We enjoyed a gyro plate with fries that we shared. The only problem we had here was a communication interaction with the waiter from the start of him coming to the table. With this being our first time dining here, we weren't sure what to expect. We asked about sharing the gyro plate and adding an extra pita to the order. He seemed confused and didn't understand what I was asking so I repeated myself again, asking if we can share the gyro plate, and add an extra pita to the order. He quickly said, okay, so you want the gyro plate and a side order of pita. When the gyro plate came to the table, he also placed down a plate that had about three pita's cut into triangles. I couldn't understand why it was so difficult to simply add one more pita to the order. While we were eating, the waiter came by and I asked if my husband and I ever ordered this again, can we just add 1 pita to the order instead of a side order, and he stated - no, we cannot add just one pita, they don't do that there. We were charged five dollars for that side order of pita, and could not finish that because it was way too much. I still don't understand why, but this is what we experienced. Despite the attitude of the waiter, behaving as if he was inconvenienced with us asking questions, we did enjoy all the food that came to the table as well as the ice cold water. This was our first stop before heading to MA and NH for our getaway weekend. I hope we experience better...

The food is spectacular and the prices are fine for what you get. The server, Vicky, was rude and dismissive in such a way that I was speechless. When ordering, I asked a question about the grilled calamari. I told her I could not order them because oil was used to cook them. Clearly, I was limited to a specific diet. I ordered roasted peppers assuming they were not covered in oil as I roast my vegetables in lemon juice, not oil. When they came to the table, I asked Vicky what all the juices were on the plate. She told me it was a garlic and oil blend. I said I couldn't eat them and she said brusquely, "Well, you shoulda told me that when you ordered them!" She let them sit on the table for the rest of the meal and charged me $8. She glared at me, noticed by my son as well, and refused to give me lemon that I asked for as my dressing for a garden salad until I had to ask her again. She had a horrific attitude which is so hard to articulate as her glaring and then ignoring attitude is hard to explain. In my decades of restaurant experience, if a part of your meal cannot be eaten especially when your customer is MEDICALLY limited to a specific diet, the part of the meal or meal itself is taken away and substitutes are offered. I have always loved Mikonos especially prior to this restricted diet, but this girl needs to go or...
