Immediately upon walking in I felt relaxed, especially so after a long drive I had to go on to run an errand for a close relative. We were directed first thing to take seating where ever me and my bro saw fit. Authenticly mexican in it's food, staff, and atmosphere.
We were given complementary nachos and salsa as the menus were brought. There is a large selection of delicious looking foods. I ordered the "Pollo Fundido"; it was very good with generous portions (the nachos and salsa were the same btw, with refills being brought too when the staff observed we were running low. My brother ordered this stuffed pepper dish (didn't catch the name of that dish) and it was fricking huge).
Very attentive and kind staff, bustling about to serve a large party that arrived a little while after we arrived.
The only minor caveats to this spot is that the parking is a bit awkward to get in and out of, because the restaruant is right beside the road; with the other one being that because of the open nature of the building, you will need to watch out for flies. Both are perfectly understandable.
Would definitely enjoy eating...
Read moreRestaurant did not have heat. We literally froze the whole time while there, having to wear our coats during our meal. The food was mediocre at best. Food was actually cold too & the rice was measured in portions and had corn & peas in the rise. You can see from my pic the cheese on the quesadilla was already clumping up from being cold. Our kids could NOT enjoy the chips & salsa because their "mild" salsa was far from mild & the waiter said that's all they had to offer. Meals you typically expect to offer rice & beans at most Mexican restaurants, only offered rice OR beans. One waiter for the entire restaurant as well. They have potential but need to improve A LOT in order to continue to stay in business...
Read moreMy husband, daughter, and I stayed in Newland while visiting Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Caverns. This restaurant was close to our hotel so we decided to stop in and give it a try, and I am so glad we did! My husband ordered a chicken burrito, my daughter ordered chicken fingers, and I ordered a chicken chimichanga and everything was FANTASTIC. Puerto Nuevo is honestly the BEST Mexican restaurant we have ever eaten at! Would give more than 5 stars if I could! We will defiantly be returning here in the future, and would recommend to anyone looking for a Amazing place to eat while visiting the...
