Amazing name, amazing baked goods. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The maple whale donut was the real standout of the crowd. Nice crisp exterior giving way to a very light and fluffy chewy interior with a near perfect maple glaze in both consistency and flavor. The brownies were both also fantastic. We got the chocolate truffle and the caramel. They were the perfect compromise between people that like a well baked brownie and people like us that would eat the batter. The coffee cake was really tasty as well and I would happily get it again.
Whale pocket with smoked provolone and ham- delicious. Plenty of filling and very flavorful. Would get again.
Birthday cake cake donut - really good cake donut. Will absolutely get another cake donut on our next visit. Crisp exterior, moist and soft interior.
Maple whale donut- the texture and density on these things is freaking awesome. And the maple glaze is amazing. 10/10 donuts. Maple whale and maple cake ftw from now on.
We can't wait to come back to this deliciously...
Read moreI found Chubby Lil' Mermaid on Google before our trip and boy am I glad that I did! This little bakeshop is on the side of the 101 and is truly a gem. I was excited to eat their baked goods but this shop is so much more than that.
They sell LEGO and Playmobile as well as many other gifts and toys. You get a two for one by stopping in - food and gifts from your trip!
I also must shout out the owners of this spot. Kimi and her husband were eager to speak to us about our trip and gave us a great recommendation to go see Devil's Punchbowl just up the beach towards Pacific City. It was one of the coolest things we've seen in Oregon!
As for the sweets, we got a Churro Cupcake, a Vanilla Shortbread cookie, and a Peanut Butter Cup Brownie. We also got some hot food: Sausage Strata and Cream of Broccoli soup. Everything was delicious. So much so, that I wish we had bought more to eat along the way.
DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! I hope I get to visit again someday. Until then, I hope that they continue to thrive as a wonderful Oregon...
Read moreLove the people and food is good too. The name says it all; they don’t skimp on richness. Their loaf bread doesn’t need a spread butter; it’s expensive to bake this way but their prices are below coastal average. Real fried donuts that must be small batches like in the mid-century; kids will remember the shape and adults sweet nostalgia. Their mushroom soup is very good. It’s commercial button mushrooms which are very unlikely to give anyone an adverse reaction, but they coax every bit of flavor out of them. (We harvest wild mushrooms, but sometimes even mycologists can get a reaction from non-toxic wilds). Everything was held at safe temps and gloves were used. They were very honest that couldn’t guarantee no peanut cross contamination in cookies for a severely allergic child; so that kid got a toy and snacks we had in the car. She was very happy. Their gift prices are low average for the coast. Fun decor. If you’re on vacation it’s worth the stop. If local, you know they have soup of the day and other...
