El Mexicano Tacos & Tequila — Restaurant in Newport

9/28/2022 Updated My son took the four of us to dinner last night for my birthday. Everything was wonderful. Each person ordered something different and we had no complaints. Service was great. Our server was Esmeralda Z. Food was delicious. We will be back.

The food is pretty good and with good portions. The service at the register was good, except for one, a little over zealous employee (in street clothing). That employee is why I gave a three star rating.

This was my first time in the restaurant. I was sitting at a table looking at the takeout menu, before placing our order. He asked me if I was ordering. When I answered yes he found it necessary to instruct me to place my order with the employee at the register. It was the employee at the register that handed me the menu and suggested I sit at the table. As soon as I got up to place our order the employee in street clothing immediately came over and pushed the heavy chair back in. However, I was going back to sit after ordering and their chairs are heavy for me as I am disabled and use a cane. The same employee found the card I dropped and returned it to me (thank you). When I went to leave the employee in street clothing watched me struggle with opening the door while using my cane and carrying our order in the other hand, never offering to help me...

We have ate here ALOT! Never had any problems. About a month ago we found a small bug walking across our table. Killed it and let the server know. One of the managers proceeds to tell us it's not a cockroach or anything and they don't have a bug issue.....okay, no problem. So we give it another try tonight. We are eating our food and I see something out the corner of my eye. Nice, big cockroach crawling across the floor. Husband kills it and tells the server. Didn't even finish our food! 10 mins later another woman comes over, I guess the manager for the night. Proceeds the tell us they have no bug issue and she remembers us from last time. Also tells us we are the ONLY customers to find any bugs so it's suspicious 🤔 simply enough we paid our bill and left. We will never be eating there again. Maybe address the problem instead of blatantly blaming the customers! Essentially to them....we are bringing the bugs with us! Great service and...

We order to-go food from here quite frequently because of convenience, and because my son loves mexican. I always leave a tip, and then get home to realize something is missing from my order. It happens frequently. Tonight I ordered several meals for my family of 4 and get home amd realize I am missing my crema salad and Pico de Gallo that comes with my Alambre meal. I checked all containers before going back to restaurant and it's not there. I go back to the restaurant and walk inside and show them my receipt and tell them what I'm missing. The guy asks me if it's in another container and did I check them all? I said yes. A few minutes later he comes back with my missing item and says "Here you go!" No sorry, no apologies, just seemed a little irritated as if I was lying about missing some crema salad and Pico de Gallo. So, from now on we will take our business elsewhere! There is not a shortage of Mexican restaurants in...
