Berkeley soul food 201 east Berkeley — Restaurant in Norfolk

this is coming from a good space and a regular customer... i loved they food at first but the porkchops started to be dry and then the gravy taste burned now and then today i ordered and didnt get my order. i ordered thru grubhub as i have done so many times before , and the recipt says a total of 3 porkchop plates and i call them for help and i get put on hold three times to finally get someone who says they will refund me as i sit here with a growling belly and after spending more money for a plate i already ordered and never got. im just a bit disappointed. their service has gotten worse over time and i hope they do better. but i may not ever order from them again. just when i thought i had a great place to order my favorite food from it goes left. :( now i am sitting here waiting for my other order that i had to pay for. if yhu order from here i hope you going to the place and checking your food because if you order thru a company you...

Hard to say when the the food quality and taste is inconsistent 😕, the food is not bad but majority of the time my order is just ok and every blue moon it's really good. I assume different cooks maybe the reason . This time I got the 2pc whiting with 2sides because none of the entrees looked appealing to me and the fish are cooked to order so that's always a win and it was cooked good a little on small side but other than that fish was good, I got collards and cabbage. The collards were ok but the cabbage weren't. Well not to me anyway. They taste like straight banana peppers literally. I can't make that up. As soon as I taste them that's what I thought and I like banana peppers at certain times but not the taste I expected for cabbage at all...I even was looking to see if I saw any peppers in there. Am I tripping..has anyone experienced this with the food there. And no I'm not knocking the business...like I said the food...

I mean, all the way around, great food and customer service!! I can only get here on the weekend. The line seems constantly long, yet moves fast enough so you have time to figure out what you're gonna get on your plate! If that sounds like an oxymoron, just try it! The fact that you can go shopping for your groceries, check out, and then get some amazing soul food, I'm all in! The price is affordable for the portions you get.
