GOLDEN DRAGON CHINESE RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Norfolk

I have never ordered from them before - I mistakenly ordered from them thinking I was ordering from the place where I usually order (Golden City also on Hampton Blvd). It was a little problem to find because some of the lights above the restaurant with the Golden Dragon name were burned out. The food I received is the kind of food I avoid when it comes to Chinese food. It was a Friday night so it is probably busier than a regular week night. I ordered chicken wings and boneless spare ribs and a few other things for other family. The wings were dry and shriveled up, the boneless ribs were the same way - hard and chewy and not well sauced. This is from being made ahead and letting them sit and then just throwing them in the bag when the order comes in to speed up service. Maybe it is different during the week instead of a weekend? The food was also overcooked. I admit it is one visit - but it only takes one visit to know that these are the kind of people that are ok to do that. The food is good, the only issue is that you only get one ontre and if you want a couple different flavors you will need to order two different meals. This increases cost and gives you too much food. On another note, their small serving is definately enough for one person. However, if you order two small servings because you want to try two flavors, you will end up with twice the rice and two bowls of food. It's too much and leads to waste. I don't have a favorite dish, there are several that are good. Orange chicken isn't one of them though, it's simply fried chicken with orange peels and a little spice added. I'm also not much of an orange chicken fan... I simply tried it here several times and was disappointed each time. Other than that, it's a decent place to eat. This was my go to place on my way to work. I call in my order and pick it up on the way to work. Well they don’t Value there black customers ,the husband was waiting on a customer and the wife came up asking the man about his mother and stuff. I was waiting patiently.and then when it was my turn I walked up and they said something in Chinese to each other and walked away, while I was standing there trying to pick up my , CALL in order. they treated the other man nice and respectful. She looked up and start bagging food. So I told them to keep that food!! and Walked out. Never again!! Spend my money...
