This Jose Tequilas is located in the Little Creek section of Norfolk along E. Little Creek Rd. The closest exit for the place from I-64 is exit 278 which brings you to Chesapeake Blvd. It is basically where N. Military Hwy, Chesapeake Blvd., and E. Little Creek Rd. meet. Because of how traffic flows are, you will want to go onto N. Military Hwy to E. Little Creek Rd. My visit here was on January 18, 2025.
I don't come over to this area very often. I was out this way for our departmental luncheon. There is another location close to where I live, so I figured this would still be good too. There was ample parking when I arrived. It wasn't too busy when I came in, but I think the rainy weather that day may have kept some away. The inside of the place is pretty big, so I could tell that they would easily be able to accommodate a group of our size. The overall ambiance of the place was inviting and has those Mexican vibes to it.
Even though everyone wasn't there yet, our server came to the table and checked each time as others arrived to find out what drink(s) we wanted. I did stick with water with lemons, as I don't do the sodas and such. Within a 15 minute window, everyone arrived and we were checking over the menu options.
After some time and chatter, the server came around to get our orders. I decided to go with the Top Shelf Queso as an appetizer and the Super Burrito with Chicken entree. I normally don't do the tortilla, but I figured I would this time. After everyone ordered, it would be about 5 minutes or so when all the appetizer orders came out.
The Top Shelf Queso was really good. It had a good flavor to it. I didn't eat the whole thing of course, so I did bring the rest home afterwards to consume then too. About 10 minutes after the appetizers came out, the entrees came out to the table. The Super Burrito looked really good too. It was hot so I had to wait a moment to start on it. The burrito was really good. The flavors complemented very well. I have been in diabetic remission for about 19 months and counting as of the time of this review. I was pleasantly surprised that in the end, I did not get any major glucose spikes from the meal that day too.
Overall, the food, service and atmosphere were phenomenal. The food was really good. The servers were on it for all of us during that visit too. They were quick to check and make sure there were no issues and were quick to keep the water cups full too. You will definitely get the Mexican atmosphere here. If you happen to be in that part of Norfolk and looking for a Mexican restaurant, this place is definitely...
Read moreI normal love Jose tequila. This was my first time at the Norfolk location. I arrived at 7:45 my friend was already seated. It took the waitress 10mins to come take our drink order. The drinks then did not come until about 8:10. I ordered a frozen strawberry mangmargaritas, she brought a mango margarita on ice. I said to the waitress this is no correct I ask for strawberry mango, she pushed the drink towards me and said "well the only made it with mango" then got upset when I said you can take it back because this is not my order. She came back with just a strawberry margaritas. . At this point we ask to move our table and have a new server. We were moved and waited until til 835 before our order was even taken. We get our food and still no drinks. The server comes back and ask what we ordered for drinks we tell him and brings them out. But still missing one drink. And the incredible hulk was missing thr dry ice that causes the smoke effect. (There were only 4 of us) he does not bring the missing drink until he is ready to bring the checks and ask if she still wants it. He then brings the checks out and they are incorrect. They charged us for drinks we never received, food we did not even have and it took him 4xs to get it correct. At 930 he starts telling is how they are closing. The do not close until 10. He came to our table multiple times asking us to leave because they were closing. But there were about 5 people still sitting at the bar. One table with a couple and another table with 4 people still enjoying their meals. It took over an hour to get service only to be rushed out of the restaurant. The didn't even apologize or offer any type of discount for all the mistakes they made. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any Jose tequila. If you want great service go to the one on Lynnhaven or the one or greatneck stay far away...
Read moreMy wife & I were in Norfolk to babysit our grandson while our daughter went to visit a friend in Vermont. We had driven in from South Carolina that afternoon, and our daughter needed to eat before she went to the airport to catch her evening flight. We were excited when our daughter suggested Jose Tequila for dinner, as I had mentioned to my wife on our drive to Norfolk that I had a taste for Mexican food. Let me cut to the chase – Jose Tequila’s did not disappoint! My wife (and our daughter) had chimichangas, and there was so much food on their plates that my wife took one of her chimichangas back to our daughter’s house for a meal over the weekend. Our daughter, because of her trip, did not have the luxury of leftovers. I ordered two quesadillas based on the portion size that most Mexican restaurants serve, and like my wife, I only had room for one of my quesadillas; the other one I enjoyed as a most welcome leftover several nights later. Again, the food was delicious, but what really made the meal special was our server, Juan. Juan teased our 3 ½ year old grandson about paying the check at the end of the meal, but since our grandson didn’t make a withdrawal from his piggy bank before we went out to dinner, Granddaddy covered him just this ONE time. With the check paid, we thought this was the end of our pleasant dining experience at Jose Tequila, but Juan had one more surprise for us – without prompting, he brought our grandson a cone of ice cream for his dessert; what an unexpected and thoughtful treat! Finally, I am sure our grandson would have written this review himself, but granddaddy covered him just this...
