Green Gables Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Normal

The wait time was not bad at all, maybe 10 minutes. Once we sat down the waitress did take our drink order pretty quickly. She was nice enough. We ordered a few appetizers with our drinks. We watched the table next to us get our appetizers, heard the people at the table tell the young boy delivering the appetizers that they did not order them. We tried to get his attention but he told them to keep them anyway and walked away. He did not go to the waitress to tell her anything about what they said that we could see, just proceeded to clean off another table. We waited for our waitress to get free as she had a couple of other tables but she never came anywhere near our table for us to be able to speak to her. We hoped that maybe we just didn’t see him tell her, but after about 25 minutes, the same young man with blonde hair brought out our lunch order. He tried to deliver it to the same wrong table that he gave our appetizers to. This time the table told him again that the order was not theirs and stopped him from putting it down. I’m sure the four adults weren’t interested in our child’s order of chicken strips. We kept trying to get his attention again and finally the people at the table heard us. He came over to our table, set down our order while we told him that we did not get our appetizers. He said he would check on that. About 5 minutes later our waitress finally came back, so we told her that we never got our appetizers. She seemed surprised, like the young man never told her and said she would get them. The young man stopped by again a few minutes after she left and told us that they ‘weren’t sure if the appetizers ever actually existed…’. We proceeded to tell him that he gave our appetizers to the table next to us. He then said ‘yeah, some people are getting their orders and some are getting things they didn’t order, it’s just crazy in here today’ and said again that they aren’t sure if they were made…’ We weren’t going to argue, so we just left it at that. The waitress then brought out one of the three appetizers that we had ordered and seemed confused when we clarified with her that we had ordered 3. At that point we just asked the other two to be removed from our bill. Later she came by after we were done and plates had been removed by the young man to ask if we were doing ok, We saw her more in the last 5 minutes of us being there than in the first 60. We asked for our check and she just told us a total. We had to ASK to SEE OUR ACTUAL BILL! Who does that?? Why would you not give the itemized bill to the customer? We were really excited to check the place out again, but it just was not a pleasant experience. We understand they have only been open a few weeks, but they really need to work harder on training...

The absolute WORST dining experience of my eating career. We waited over an hour for a table which was our first mistake. It took 32 minutes to get drinks and appetizers after we were seated on top of the pool table full of EXTREMELY LOUD and OBNOXIOUS frat boys. I couldn’t hear myself think or talk to anyone at my table.

The food was mediocre at BEST and did not come out together. My daughter got her chicken strips 15 minutes later. The sandwiches are wrapped TO GO even though you are dining in. The fries were itty bitty pieces and the onion rings were all stuck together- one side burnt and the other side not. We asked for sides and didn’t get them. The waitress said “let me go check” and NEVER RETURNED. We did not receive drink refills. I had to go to the bar twice to request them. The waitress had long hair and it was NOT TIED BACK. She was swinging it everywhere and that’s GROSS and against food handling guidelines.

I had high expectations to try this place out- never went to the old one so we wanted to see what the hype was about as a local resident. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. When my check arrived, it was wrong. I asked for an ITEMIZED receipt so I could verify the charges. The waitress just wanted me to stick my card in her machine. NOPE! Give me my receipt first.

We arrived at 6:45pm and cashed out at 9:08pm! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I left with a blazing headache and a pocket full of REGRETS.

You got me once, Green Gables Bar and Grill “ICON RESORT of the WORLD,” but you won’t get me TWICE. I’m confident my experience would have been the same on any given day or...

It took 15 minutes to get drinks and appetizers after we were seated on top of the pool table full of EXTREMELY nice and cool boys. I couldn’t bear to not try to be friends with everyone here.

The food was juicy as a Meg the stallion booty at WORST. The sandwiches are wrapped TO GO even though you are dining in when it’s obvious you’re not gonna have any left overs. The fries were crispy pieces and the corn nuggets were like an angel reaching down and grabbing me into heaven- the burger, one side sex and the other side sex. The waitress said was cracking jokes and felt like on of us. We received many drink refills. I had to go to the bar twice to thank the chef personally. The waitress had long hair and it was NOT TIED BACK… she looked GOOD. She was swinging it everywhere.
